Qantas Red Planet

Shock Horror! For the first time I was not screened out of a survey - Project Yoghurt. I was starting to think it was all a rort too.
I also received the survey for Project Engergy about Victoria's Electricity, but as I live in QLD, was screened out of that one...naturally.

I received two today, attempted both; one a review of an ad campaign for a beer (including them using my phone's camera to video me watching the ad) for a total of 350 points and the second Project Energy, regarding Victoria's electricity system (I reside in QLD incidentally) which I was screened out of. Still, will take today's 350 points gleefully.

Is there an easy way to block access to the camera if completing these surveys on a smartphone? I completed the survey about the beer-related advert campaign too, but logged into Red Planet via my laptop and used my internet security software's pop-up notification to block access to the webcam..... I still screened through and completed the survey so should get the QF points...... If not, I'll post an update........

I just deleted the App it installed on my phone as soon as I finished the survey. Seemed to work.

Did you have an option to stop the app from installing in the first place?

Yes, one of the questions asked whether I would allow the access to the camera / download the app for an additional 100 points (on top of the 250 - or was it 200 - to complete). Agreed, so was redirected to the App store to download.. Would I have been screened out if I declined? Who knows..

Just got asked some questions on the first page that made me think of a scam. Questions included -

Do you own a turtle?

Have you purchased rock climbing gear?

Very weird set of questions indeed.

Flying Fox
- I think this may have something to ensure that the questions are answered by an actual person, rather than a robot as there will be at least one answer that everyone will answer yes too.

Could it be that project imaginary unit was also a scam!

I thought it was weird that at the question what is the square root of -1 the only choice was "i" instead of both "i and -i":p

I'm done with online surveys!!!

Market Researchers need to be weary of Confirmation bias that frequently exists with respondents in quantative research surveys.
In other words some respondents are known to answer "Yes" for every question hoping for them to qualify to participate in the survey in the search for easy points.
These sorts of questions about " do you own a turtle?" followed by " have you replaced your roof in the last month? " help to weed out respondents who are mearly answering Yes to everything.

Phil, I've had a couple of surveys screen me out when I've answered YES to questions along the lines of 'do you plan to visit Luxembourg in the next 6 months'... I'm going on a European river cruise where that is the destination of one of the day trips...
(other questions were a mix of yes/no answers)

It's just a " I'm not a robot" meme.

I haven't had anything from Red Planet for a while now. Reading all your recent comments makes me glad of that too. I think mass unsubscriptions are in order to send a message!

I spoke too soon. I got a survey today, worth 250 points, but guess what folks..... I didn't qualify!!!!!!!!!

Quite upset, I just did like 15 questions in Project Web before being screened out. I would expect that 15 questions would be almost enough for an entire survey...

Exactly the same except Project Mine, signed in within 10 mins of getting email tonight. I thought I'd finally got some points:

Thank you for being willing to share your opinions with us today. Unfortunately we have now filled our target groups for this particular survey.

Of course when you receive the email is not necessarily when others receive the email, even in the case of one email sent to multiple recipients. You can often see things on OzBargain hours before you receive the same email that the OzB OP got.

Received the Project Mine Survey today. Yet more very strange initial questions with Yes/No responses -

I have personally purchased a wristwatch online in the past month.

I personally own a pet snake.

I have published a digital reference book in the past month

Do you have a purebred Dalmatian?

Have you purchased a tennis racket in the past 6 months?

Have you helped prepare a home cooked meal in the past 12 months?

Have you installed an automated sprinkler system in the past year?

Were you born in September?

I have completed a skydive in the past 3 months.

Can you ride a unicycle?

Often, one of them is a screening question, and the rest are to make sure you're not a robot or person just ckicking yes/no to everything.

What was the survey about?

What was the survey about?

I didn't match the criteria that they were after but I was asked if I was a small business owner, if I made the financial decisions, number of staff etc... then I got the 'sorry we don't need your opinion' screen (it was worded better than that).
