Utter madness on my part but as I was in the Brisbane CL the other night I decided to order the squid. Fully expecting to only have a few pieces I could only manage two.


Bland and a bit stale. Mine was one of the last flights out so suspect it had been prepared earlier.

The chili is as big as the squid!!

Totally agree. The example in my post is how it should at least look. Not some dark deep fried retread tyre off cuts!

Certainly octopus can be tenderised by bunging it in the freezer v whacking it against a rock for 1 hr. I know what I’d do!

Fresh squid flash fried ought to be more tender than frozen but being airline related, I suspect it’s frozen. Possibly even since pre-Covid….

Fresh squid has a firmer texture - which is how it should be. Cooked squid should not be tender (easy to eat yes but not soft).

Serious! I do that for my fresh caught occy and squid and ready to eat, very tender in 30-45 mins.

Yes I know how it works. But I not a fan of soft squid. Ive eaten too may dodgy ones.

C'mon, realistically, the chances of the squid in the QF Flounges not being frozen are zilch.
