Qantas Salt & Pepper Squid thread

LAX, 2 March ‘20. A nice tasty dish.

LAX seems to be very consistent; @JohnM ‘s history:

Utter madness on my part but as I was in the Brisbane CL the other night I decided to order the squid. Fully expecting to only have a few pieces I could only manage two.

Bland and a bit stale. Mine was one of the last flights out so suspect it had been prepared earlier.

SIN F lounge earlier. Quite nice if not looking a little smaller than previous post. The excess chile should be sent to the MEL F Lounge to get their act together!

The chili is as big as the squid!!

Just reviewing recent posts on this threads, there are some pretty horrid examples.

Totally agree. The example in my post is how it should at least look. Not some dark deep fried retread tyre off cuts!

IDK for sure but frozen squid I think has a softer texture. The QF FLounge version is suspiciously softer than what I know as fresh
Certainly octopus can be tenderised by bunging it in the freezer v whacking it against a rock for 1 hr. I know what I’d do!

Fresh squid flash fried ought to be more tender than frozen but being airline related, I suspect it’s frozen. Possibly even since pre-Covid….🤫
