Qantas SYD&MEL to SIN $510 ret ($410 through .br site)

Hey guys/gals,

So I'm doing a mate's bucks weekend on one of these expedia .br specials to SIN (and then non QF on to HKT) in a few weeks - great, right? (Heck yes, can't wait!)
Except one small thing - one bloke is having second thoughts (says he has "too much on" right now - have a feeling he might be having the whip cracked, but either way) and says he's unlikely to come.

I don't have a copy of the fare rules, (we're booked in 'O') but I assume they go something like this:
"If you need to change anything, ever, forget about it!"

Well, I found this page: Bookings - Fare Types which seems to have some information. But:

My question is this:
I'm assuming I can't do something simple like a name change on his booking (given what's on that page?). So, if he's unable to fly (and he's booked on the same PNR as me); Can I do something creative, like use his seat as a comfort seat? (or anything else that's a better idea?)

Thoughts welcome?

I'm flying with a few others who haven't bailed, I'm a status nothing with QF (sadface). I think we'll have a bunch of non-QFFs and one silver amongst us.

I don't think you can get the name changed or a refund. You might be able to change dates but that would be too much stuffing around.

Personally I would not be telling Qantas, or Expedia, too much and try to hold on to that seat for as long as possible so that it does not get sold.

I would even go so far as using OLCI to pre-allocate your friend a seat next to you and wait until the last possible moment to tell gate staff that your friend was not feeling well and went home. Note you will not be able to do this for the trip home as his booking will more than likely be cancelled.

I know some people will say this is sneaky but you are under no obligation to tell Qantas your friend is not flying until the last possible moment.

Anyone been to Honk Kong? :)

I wonder whether this will include holiday periods and the New Year or just more sales for October-November.

Good news although the lack of a double SC offer does make a potential booking a little less attractive to me.

Did the fuel charges change on these routes? There was something happening with them because of emirates - was that just on award bookings? Oh so many changes I can't keep up with it all.

I hope this covers the ski season.
Last year the (Japan) sale that I took advantage of was available on 6 June. CBR-SYD-NRT-CTS was only $1046 but I wished I had lashed out and paid $1999 for PE!
It will be interesting to check out the price on .br this time.
Once again, thanks for the heads up markis10 :)

Anyone been to Honk Kong? :)

Was in Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago, for 6 days. Flew Qantas - flight was $800 return first from Qantas. From what I gather from here and my own experience, flights to HK are no cheaper on Expedia and usually more expensive.

Anyone know when the sale fares will be loaded? Its already well and truly the 5th of July.

Ahh, but have you been to Honk Kong as it was initially spelled on the QF agents website ;)

So much for "sale". For data point I checked yesterday, fares for BNE-SIN were "from $870", didn't check dates. Today with the global sale, now "from $1190". Cheaper to Manila.

I'm not seeing any sale listed on Qantas.com.. is anyone else? I'm based in MEL. Milan return for $2,384 doesn't sound like a great deal to me!

Given this is the first significant "sale" since the new engine was put in place, maybe the sale fares need to be booked on a special number as they are "marginal" LOL.

The prices, at least from MEL seem to have come down if you actually go through the booking process. Not as good as last time, but better prices than yesterday.

Or Perhaps its an Enhanced Marginal special sale fare :D with limited availability by special invite

Without trawling through 92 pages, can anyone point me to a post that has instructions on how to book using this method?
Found it very hard to navigate .br without knowing Spanish! :)
