(2) I booked for a friend who has a two word first name. It came out OK on the "Confirmação da viagem por parte da Expedia" but the space is missing on qantas.com. I know there was discussion about leaving out middle names - but this is not the same - my friend's two word first name (as on the passport) is now one word. Will it make any difference?

A lot of my flight bookings simply appear as SURNAME FIRSTMIDDLEMR. No spaces at all, I thinks saves confusion due to three word names being the norm in parts of Asia.

Hmm, just checked and yep my flights in October/November are upgradeable. Definitely has me thinking but I don't think I can justify the 80,000 points each way (for the GF and I) for what seems like a very mediocre business class experience on Qantas' A330's. I am tossing up with the overnight flight back as I will be going straight to work the next day. Have about 420,000 points but hoping to get to the magical 560k for 2 oneworld awards hopefully for the honeymoon in 18 months or so.

Why mediocre? I'm pretty fresh on the points earning and burning front, so I was pretty excited to see I could upgrade to business for my Sep flight.

Just recent reviews regarding service, food and the angled seat recently on this site. If it was A380 I reckon I would go for it. Will definitely be a let down on the TG A380F I am flying in 2 weeks time that is for sure! But I digress, that is not a fair comparison. I guess it is just cause I am aiming for something else with my points, if I just had the points lying around I would probably do it.

Well they are the Skybed MK I which have a slight slope to them. While fully flat they are not parallel to the floor.

There is also the older IFE which is not as extensive nor intuitive as the Panasonic system on the refurbished 747s and A380s.

For travelislife (love the username!) I also faced this question, in the end I decided that it was better to save the points. In the end I didn't see the value and was glad I didn't spend them. I would save for the honeymoon - the experience provided by a J RTW would surely be more beneficial than a 7 or 8 hour trip in J :)

I'm gunna request for the overnight return flights, but can't see the point for the afternoon flights there.

I can still cancel the requests if I change my mind.

Plus it is QF, there is a chance they won't go through anyway... after all it is a request

How is the quality of the food outbound from Australia compared to returning from Singapore?

I recently upgraded Mrs Buzzard & I SIN - ADL and by memory it was only 24,000 each.
In your situation saving for the honeymoon sounds like the best option.
Where are you planning your stop overs for the RTW?

Are these fares still available? Striking out on most dates in August / September now... I guess the QF Asia Sale is over?

Eat on Q is now available.
That's dependant on any upgrade coming through in time to use it.

Other than that, sometimes it can take an hour or two for the food to be even served giving a greatly reduced time for sleep. Also, breakfast is minimal these days being 'Cafe Style'.

Hi These fares have gone for now just wait till the next Asia sale and Im sure you will get the price and dates you are looking for.

Remember dont forget the time difference between here and Brazil give it about another 24 hours after sale fare announcements in Australia.

Happy flying and great hunting :D Cheers

Having read your other post I'm now giving up hope of getting the upgrade, but nevertheless, it sounds like the A330 probably isn't the best way to experience 40K points worth of business. Are you saying that it is possible to change my mind on the upgrade if, in the off chance, I get the upgrade?

You can cancel an upgrade and get some refund, even if granted, up to 24 hours before the flight:
Upgrades awarded within 24 hours of departure are not refundable.

I would have thought after it is granted, that is it. Good to know.

I presume if it is granted you lose some points in the process but if unconfirmed then you don't lose anything?

Upgrade just cleared for 3 of us SIN-PER, cheap way to experience J on a 400 dorrar ticket
