I think you'll find that the local rules such as showing your credit card at the qf office in bkk is related to point of origin rather than where you purchased the ticket.

This isn't correct. If you book through any other travel agent (i.e an online one like Expedia or another local one) you won't have to present your credit card. It is a requirement as set by the agent Qantas uses. It is not a country requirement or point of origin.

I stand corrected but it was in the context of .br not adding any similar onerous requirements.

Can someone please check I am doing this right... I want to book PER-SIN on the direct QF flight departing 20/02/14 returning 23/02/14. The .br site shows as R739 return. This equates to approx A$350. Whereas the qantas web site is showing A$650. It looks too good to be true??? Is it fairly safe to go through this website, or will encounter problems at the airport? Cheers

I have booked three of these .br fares, all MEL-SIN round trips and have had no problems with the bookings/ticketing at the airport for the two I travelled so far - in both cases I went as booked and earned QFF points and SC's as per my QFF status.

My next one is in 4 weeks and presume/expect the same.

For those looking for a cheap way to Europe, at the moment QF are selling flights SIN-Europe (largely on EK codeshares, although QF1 does appear for DXB-LHR) for ~$900-$1000 AUD return. Combine with a $400 .br fare and all-up cost could be in the order of $1300-$1400.

Got rough date ranges on those Europe return fares?

Not sure, I was looking at next week or two ... but they mirror what is on EK website, which does give date range on some sale fares ex-SIN, so that may be a place to look. (But note: QF only sell to main Europe cities ex-SIN, not all EK destinations).

I was looking at SIN-LHR/BCN-SIN which came in at ~ $860 AUD, .... or $700 if you account for minimum value of QFF pts earnt as a SG (ie woolies vouchers)!

To give you another data point... I have used the .br method for flights to SIN / ATH / LHR... worked perfectly!

I was careful to make sure of my plans prior to booking, as I did not want any potential hassle in the event of voluntary changes.

And it will be the same... it is a perfectly valid ticket.

You paid the airfare and associated taxes as charged by your OTA... No issue whatsoever.

There is more risk that the flight is oversold and you might have to sit in Business Class on EK... oh what a giant pity, how will you cope serfty? :p

Just like I did last time ... :p (My god EK! What big J amenities kits you have... ;))

Actually, it could be gooderer! That price includes a R123 booking fee which can be avoided if you read more of this thread.

Must have missed that discussion. Any pointers roughly where to look in the thread? It's up to 170 pages now!

Think I've found it. Something to do with saving the trip to a profile. Will give it a shot now.

Also if you book a hotel for one night then the price drops too just select accomodation for ONE night and Book the CHEAPEST room possible just never turn up:D

Or book a hotel for 1 night.

Just be careful when booking flights for 1 person and booking hotels at same time expedia.br prices the whole itinerary for 2 people.

That's the one. Give it one hour and hey presto, fee gone. If you need a hotel then do it that way.

They all seem to have quite passable English when I have contacted them.

Depends on what you need done (then it can be difficult as it sometimes strays into technical detail territory), but generally their English is OK to get what you need to do. Just don't speak too fast and don't use complex English or slang.

Most people shouldn't need to contact them except for billing problems and involuntary changes (then e-ticket re-issues). Voluntary changes are always a PITA on non-flexible tickets; booking it through the airline let alone with another travel agent.
