I had thought that 'gifts' were for those actually disrupted; are there any who weren't (like me) who did receive a 'gift'?

I do know the straitman was disrupted - his post indicates no gift offered.

I wasn't directly affected (at least not as far as QF were aware - I did cop about $100 in VA & Qantaslink cancellation fees for contingency bookings) but I have received the offer of wine. Have not actually received the wine yet.

Further to my previous post ..... I have just received points for my Monday flight and all i got was 250 points ( this is what i expected) however for fridays flight i got 1000 ..... I am Silver at the moment .... and all i fly is SYD BNE SYD each week ....

did anyone else get a " special " bonus ?

Hello Qantas,

The best thing you could have offered was a Status Credit Bonus to the top tier, namely Platinum and may be to a less extent, something for the Gold or at least offer Double Points or Double Status Credits.
If you are really serious about trying to protect the so called core traveller, then that would be a no brainer.
I now split my flying, travelling with QF and Virgin Australia and travel enought to maintain Platinum Status with both programs each year.

My suggestion is to really step up to the wicket and do it, then I may consider travelling with QF 100% of the time.

Kind regards.

Just out of interest what would the double status credits offer you? Is WP1 your target rather than WP in both programs? I can't see any great benefits in going beyond WP with QF at the moment...other than the extra 50,000 points for hitting 2400 and I don't see that as a massive draw.

G'day Tony Hancock,

To answer your first Question, an easier way to retain WP earlier, then work on conserving the DJ WP.
You are so so right, at the moment what QF are offering for WP1 Status is very underwhelming (if there is such a word)
After many years of travelling approx 99% with QF internationally in J Class, (the odd occasion in P) and 99.99% with QF domestic in either Y or J, there is now some real competition up the sharp end.
QF appear to not be trying to well to compete.
I am happy to go QF but they really need to lift there game in all sectors.
This is their golden chance.
They support the Wallabies, well QF, start leading by example and take the ball up.

Rather interesting.. You want qantas to offer you double status credits so you can fly with the opposition sooner. Seems like a reason not to offer it!

Double status credits help with;
1. Requalification or aiming higher
2. Getting the next loyalty bonus
3. Aiming for lifetime silver or gold

For me LTG would be the aim for me so double status credits would be great.

Oh Dear, you have missed the point. QF have to make WP1 way more than an underwhelming option.

I have never been one to play one off the other, BUT it is now heading in the direction that one has to try and do something to get QF to remove their blinkers,so as to get what one, very very long term loyal QF customer really deserves.
It is not rocket surgery, nlagalle.

No it's not rocket science your first point on double SCs was about being able to get WP on QF and the conserve how many flights you had to take on DJ - QF don't want you to take ANY flights on DJ. ANy incentive to make it easier for you to fly DJ is not in QF's game plan. And it shouldn't be.

simongr,

Have a look at my reply and you should see exactly where I am coming from.
Your thought's ??

ps: Rocket Surgery is a new saying, you may wish to read what you want into it, I reckon it is very appropriate.

Damn beaten by medhead.

I've just had a conversation with someone in the know that confirmed that the "op ups" are processed the evening before the flight is scheduled to depart.

Your posts contradict yourself. You stated that you want double SC's so you can get WP then fly DJ. So why woud they give you doube sc when you've said you'll fly elsewhere???

No rocket science...
