I got the eqiQure membership and wine as I 'may have been effected.' I wasn't effected, however, I did have flights the week immediately preceding and post the weekend of the disruption, so I think +/- 5 days may been taken into account.

Another data point, I flew on the Tuesday prior and was severely affected from cancellations and delays - a day trip ended up becoming a 20 hour day mostly stuck in a plane or an airport. It was probably from union issues. I got nothing, I'm not complaining however I did effectively waste $500 flying around endlessly on QF that day. At least on the last flight the CSM did have 'the chat' with myself and the other WP's onboard. Craig saved the day.

We have 2 WPs in the family.

BTW, I still have no idea of the point of epiQure.

Agreed.

Agreed.

I was delayed on several flights in the lead up to the strike, including one delay of 2 hours SYD-MEL that resulted in me missing my meeting. I didn't complain, and I imagine most WPs would have been effected in the last few months.

I was more aggravated at the security incident at SYD which resulted in my 09:30 flight departing at 12:30, but security was at fault here, and not QF.

I doubt ±5 days would be the criteria; I was on the last transpacific flight do depart Oz on Saturday 29th (QF7) and only found out about the shutdown ¾ hour before landing via an announcement from the Pilot.

I was on the first normally Scheduled QF8 out of DFW after flights resumed.

¹ The grounded SYD-DFW aircraft I flew in on operated as a Sunday 'special' when flights resumed.

Serfty, did you get the EpiQure membership? If they haven't considered 5 days before and after, then they have obviously extracted the wrong data to determine who was actually effected. That said, it does say 'may have been' so perhaps the selection is as mysterious as the AIR magazine.

Jock28,

I was directly effected (1900 flight Saturday) and did not get the EpiQure membership :!:

Aside from the double points that all WP are getting I receive NO other offer.

I wasn't affected at all and I've received the Epicure thing. Apart from the 2 free bottles of wine, it's useless for me...

Not affected either and also received double points and EpiQure offer - haven't enrolled.

This is the wording of the e-mail I got (extract):

"And because you may have been directly impacted during the recent disruptions, we would like to offer you a 12 month complimentary membership to epiQure by Qantas Frequent Flyer"

I was affected (in a very minor way) by a flight cancellation during one of the TWU/ALEA strikes (or threatened strikes). I shifted to an earlier flight and it was no great issue for me, but I appreciate the offer (which I've taken up) nevertheless.

Is it possible that those people affected by the grounding, as opposed to the union-initiated industrial actions in the weeks leading up to it, got a 'free flight', and the people affected by the union actions got a 'gift' (and presumably those affected by both, got both)? I dunno, just a thought.

As I understood it, thay was how it worked.

But how do you define "affected".We were due to fly out on QF1 to BKK on the Tuesday 1/11.On the weekend we did not know how long this was going to continue. Our TA made a back up booking on QF301(BA10).early on Monday morning before we could say we would keep our original booking QF had issued a new ticket for QF301 so we were stuck there.
On top of that they then classed that sector as a classic award. It took until 23/11 for QF to post mrsdrron's points and my AA miles have posted today(along with those from QF533 on 28/10).Now I accept that by using my Aadvantage number I get diddly squat. However mrsdrron is WP,it was an 081 ticket, and she also gets diddly squat.

Well, I'm pretty happy with Qantas now.

Due to the disruption I now have;

Free membership to EpiQure and a free bottle of wine,
A free domestic return flight (or AU to NZ),
Double FF points for the 91st Birthday celebration, and;
Status credits and FF points for my flights canceled due to the grounding of the fleet.

:D

Wow I was so wrong. This thread is still very relevant, especially when I read posts like this I am reminded just how relevant.

80,000 people's travel plans were disrupted, 20,000 people were left stranded, many people were left in distressed situations, BUT you got a little hamper of goodies out of it all. Gee thanks, Qantas, you are so wonderful to your customers.:p

Oh, maybe I should also add the 12,000 miles added toward re-qualification of my *A FF account as well as 3,000 Amex points from the SQ flights I had to purchase and take in place of the QF flights due to the grounding..........

Maybe it's irrelevant to you now, so perhaps it's time to press that unsubscribe button and leave the thread?

Yours sincerely,

One of the 20,000 caught up in the grounding.

I can't follow what points you are trying to make here. Could you please elucidate.

Qantas has actually done pretty good to me. I did my cancelled travel 5 hours later and qantas paid for that. They gave me points and status credits for the cancelled flight. They've given me a free return flight. They're giving me ~10000 extra point. They've given me membership of a wine club that has some good prices, including a free bottle of wine.

Overall, excellent compensation for a five hour delay.

Now could you please elucidate why you are still reading and posting to this "tedious" thread.
