Qantas thanks its most loyal customers

... and in December I will only have 4 QF flights

That means, if I read that all four are minimum earn, you will receive a 4000 point bonus. Isn't this better than nothing? I would kill to only have four short flights in December.

I disagreed with the comment that those who don't travel a lot in November/December aren't really loyal customers. I for one praise QF for the double points, and other recovery offers.

On the above point, I hear you. Taking a leisure trip this weekend because I should visit family, and sighed a little because was looking forward to only having to take 2 more work flights...

Priority boarding will, however, help.

QF537 BNE-SYD this afternoon (14:25) No op-up for me, sadly. The original booking was for yesterday (Sunday), don't know if that was a factor. J looked very full, so I suspect my number just didn't come up :)

This is going to sound a little controversial, but hey, that's life!!

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I am a harsh critic of QF but I think the double points offer does reward the frequent, FF.

I disagree with this comment. A lot of corporate travellers begin winding down in November and particularly December. I have held WP for several years and in December I will only have 4 QF flights, both requiring the minimum point guarantee due to their distance.

I agree with the sometimes you win and sometimes you lose sentiment. I'm not going to get many bonus points as I only have two flights in the period BUT that's life.

This is purely and simply a bribe to retain/recover market share. I will personally gain a few thousand points and an FLounge visit, but it won't influence my decision to fly or not fly with Qantas, as at the moment my status and points balance lock me into staying them. But I am actively looking at how and when I can make the switch, and the Virgin status match is now looking like a masterstroke of strategy (thanks to Qantas).

Moody,

My sentiments exactly :!:

As an update for international ticket holders affected by the grounding, vouchers are being issued for some amount of flight credit rather than the free Australian domestic flight. I had an affected Singapore issued ticket (the affected sector was Syd-Per) and have been offered $320SGD credit towards a new booking.

Yep! I have not booked any travel with QF as a result of the offer. It will help me with a JASA next year though.

I don't think you can generalize like this. My entire team have had more flights in Nov an Dec than in Sep and Oct. if this had been a Jan promo I would have agreed with you...

I disagree with your disagreeance! :)

It may well be the case for a lot of domestic corporate travellers, but there are a number of us who work for international organisations where it doesn't slow down at this time of year, particularly in non-Christian based countries. Up until a few days ago I was hoping my flights were done for the year (even though I would miss out on the double SC's and points offers) but I now need to head over to Guangzhou on the 14th December for a 2 day meeting.

And yes, I will be flying Qantas! :D

I disagree with this comment, I'm personally traveling weekly until the end of the year, and so are many people I know. The rush is on to complete work before Xmas.

Yep, me too. Very busy between now and Christmas, but will be taking most of January off, so may not fly at all for a month then.

Disagree all you like. My objection was in relation to an earlier quote from someone else that those who don't fly a lot during Nov/Dec are not 'loyal customers.'

QF is giving double points for a total of 37 days, 14 in November and 23 in December. That's a little over 10% of the year. If you don't have flights booked during that period then it might be argued you are not a loyal customer, or frequent flyer. I know that sounds harsh, but I think that the double points is a genuine reward for those who fly regularly and frequently. :)

I think you misunderstood what I wrote. I was saying that there are many frequent flyer members who _are_ flying during that time that are not getting the bonus.

Are there? we don't know how many might be missing out. have any NB's got on here saying the missed out and are flying?

Maybe someone can help me understanding.

I have received my first bonus on a flight 2 weeks ago SYD-MEL. I'm one of the selected Bronze (soon silver ;)). The bonus points are meant to be 25% but I received double points (extra 1000), however on my other flight last week, only received 250 extra points. Does anyone know why?

Also by email, they promised a Q bag tag, but still haven't received it, wonder if I'm going to get it.

Last, I read a lot of people talking about double SC. Does this only apply to selected FF?

Last point first. The only double SC offer was for selected people flying to/from Hong Kong. Other than that any talk of double SC was wishful thinking. (including by me)

I think the 1000 points was a mistake. Assuming the minimum points guarantee applied to your flight than 25% should be 250.

Not sure about the bag tags arriving.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

Any updates on the free upgrades? Not expecting one tomorrow as row 4 is blocked and it is showing J5 (implication being that there are 4 CLs or CIPs sitting in row 4 who are more likely to be upped to the 4 free J seats).

No seat change during OLCI. Sadly the 7:15 flight is showing J8...

Another data point: my partner is NB. The only flights remotely close to the grounding was SYD-BNE-SYD on 21/24 October. He is being offered Q bag tags as he may have been affected. Our return flight was canceled, but that was the only impact.
