Qantas thanks its most loyal customers

Except everyone did not receive that gesture either - in fact, it seems the majority of bronze customers did not.

This is the whole point I was trying to make......
Not everyone that should be compensated is being compensated and some people who should not be, are. This is going to leave many people questioning why they aren't getting anything which IMO, is worse than if QF did nothing.

But then how many of those Bronze members are flying in that period? Remember the majority are once year (or less) flyers. Many wouldn't even know of such an offer either.

Newsflash! The bonus points is not compensation for being disrupted. Why do you continue to totally misrepresent what is going on with this. EVERY Platinum, Gold and Silver get bonus points. Selected bronze get bonus points as well. There has been nothing reported to say that selected bronze members aren't those who were also disrupted? There is no point just making things up.

Im SG and im not flying in that period. I know its impossible for every member to benefit from every offer, but to specifically exclude the majority of your customers (who I personally don't think are "frequent" flyers at all) is IMO bad form.

Offers like EpiQure membership and the free bottle of wine, the F lounge passes, $2000 travel credits and double points pleases those that get them but annoys others that dont. I was not inconvenienced by the strikes/grounding and dont expect to get anything out of it, but when you hear about people getting the aforementioned offers, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

To put it simply, if QF dont value my business, I will take it elsewhere.

so you weren't disrupted at all and qantas offering 50% extra points is a massive insult for you. Ok then. What extra present did you get with the bonus points offer, if any?

OK as pointed out, you are referring to two totally separate things... the bonus points was a birthday special, the F lounge, EpiQure subscription etc were additional compensation for those disrupted. I was grounded in LHR and was given an epiQure subscription among other things.

Why? Because others get something, you are envious??

I think that would be regarded as a 'win-win' by both parties.

You clearly dislike Qantas, so don't fly with them. Simple.

When are the free gifts arriving. I have received the email saying that I have a QP voucher as I may have been disrupted but nothing has arrived yet.

Is everybody still waiting?

Try re reading the post and playing "Where's Wally" but instead of finding Wally, who has clearly been found, try finding the sentence that reads something along the lines of "I was not inconvenienced and therefore dont expect to get anything....."

Care to explain how this is a 'win-win'??

If Qantas is happy to see $15,000-$20,000 of business walk out the door to other airlines, im not exactly sure what they'd win, but perhaps you can enlighten me.

You clearly dislike Qantas, so don't fly with them. Simple.

Seeing as though you seem to know my thoughts and opinions better than I do, can you tell me what Qantas offers that any other airline out there doesnt??

Domestically, Virgin have caught up to a point where they basically offer the same thing, except, their service is with a smile. Internationally, dont even get me started. The middle east and asian airlines can get you to 15-20 destinations in europe with one stop in better cabins at a better price. THAT is why 1 in 20 passengers (or whatever ratio Qantas quotes) don't fly them ex Australia.

So to answer your point..... Its not that I dislike Qantas, its more disappointment.

And the second half of your original sentence (which you chose not to quote) said:

The question is - if you were not inconvenienced and therefore not expecting anything, then why on earth does it leave a bad taste in your mouth when others do get something?????

Anyway, Wally, I won't engage further with you as dealing with negativity is not productive. Enjoy flying with Virgin (until they too start giving things to others which will no doubt cause you irritation).

The people getting these things were disrupted by the grounding (NOTE: I removed the extra points promotion). Since you weren't, you aren't getting anything. If are annoyed by that, then you have an interesting way of looking at the world.

You still have the opportunity to take advantage of the extra points promotion, which is being billed as a 91st Birthday promotion. It's not QF's fault you are not flying at that time.

No need to tell us about it - just do it.

To bring back a bit of positiveness/positivity to the forum...

I think what Qantas has done is incredibly generous. I haven't been offered anything and I don't expect anything as I wasn't a passenger that was directly affected by the grounding on those dates that Qantas mention. I did have slightly less than $1000 worth of Qantas travel booked for the Wednesday (5 days after the grounding started), which I cancelled straight away (on the same Saturday afternoon that the grounding was announced) and booked with Virgin. The Virgin flights were about $1600. I could not risk NOT getting a flight from Sydney to Adelaide on that day, so I did what I had to do.

I was fully refunded by Qantas for my Qantas flights and have copped the extra cost ($600 or so) on the chin. I consider myself to have been mildly affected by the grounding, causing slight stress on the Saturday whilst waiting to book with Virgin and slight hip pocket pain. I understand the gifts that Qantas have given out and am happy those people received what they did. I know that they can't give gifts to people who cancelled all their flights way into the future, or refund the difference of all those flights either. They are a business after all.

I only have one regret. As a WP, I could have been comp'd DJ platinum. I chose not to as I didn't think I would ever fly Virgin enough to warrant a platinum card (and wasting everyone's time). As it turned out, I had two good flights with Virgin to/from Adelaide with Virgin. Not enough to change me from being a loyal Qantas flyer.

Now Qantas has come out with their birthday bonus. I am lucky enough to be travelling on Qantas in those days and will benefit with about 15,000 bonus points. If they also credit this bonus to QF codeshares on other operated flights, then I should be able to get an extra 14,000 on top again. But I'm not sure.

I am incredibly surprised by those who get upset by other people's fortune. Especially if that fortune was 'earned' in someway. I was slightly affected, but couldn't care less about gifts or the like. If I particularly want something, then I would buy it myself... I'm not particularly rich, but I believe that I earn my money and spend it where it gives me pleasure. I have always had pleasure from seeing the red kangaroo logo and from flying Qantas and having access to the lounges etc. I didn't get a gift, but love the bonus points and will continue to fly Qantas. Thanks Red roo!

I'm inclined to agree, I just wish they would focus a little more on the customer service side. That would make me a lot happier than the points and epiqure membership.

I have been quite impressed with VA/DJ so far, again it is the customer service aspect that is pleasing me.I'm keeping a foot in both camps.

If you had a QF flight number you'll get the bonus. :)

You can also claim the $600 excess fees you paid to be booked on DJ/VA from QF.

It is however Qantas' fault when they don't offer the promotion to FF members who are flying at that time.

This is going to sound a little controversial, but hey, that's life!!

QF is giving double points for a total of 37 days, 14 in November and 23 in December. That's a little over 10% of the year. If you don't have flights booked during that period then it might be argued you are not a loyal customer, or frequent flyer. I know that sounds harsh, but I think that the double points is a genuine reward for those who fly regularly and frequently. :)

I will receive just over 98,000 bonus points and consider myself very, very, very lucky, if it had been January I would have only received 40,000 points, and as for October 2011 it would have been about 80,000 points. February and March would have killed me as my UK trips are with BA and VA respectively.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I am a harsh critic of QF but I think the double points offer does reward the frequent, FF.

I disagree with this comment. A lot of corporate travellers begin winding down in November and particularly December. I have held WP for several years and in December I will only have 4 QF flights, both requiring the minimum point guarantee due to their distance.
