I've stopped collecting Qantas points in favour of other programs but was really hoping to offload some of the roughly 400,000 or so I accumulated over the past few years today.

They knew that demand would be high so they would have had plenty of time to prepare the website for the increased level of traffic surely (I'm not an IT guy so I'm not sure exactly what's possible).

One hopes they will received an appropriate amount of negative coverage with regard to the inability to book these new rewards seats as they did positive coverage with their release.

I'm off to purchase some milk and will give it one last shot in 15 minutes time.

The Qantas marketing department will spin this debacle with a well-timed positive press release on Monday, no doubt about that.

Expect phrases such as "Unprecedented popularity", "Evidence that Qantas customers truly love our rewards program", "Delighted with the surge in demand", "Exceeded all expectations".... blah blah.

I even got one step further 2 minutes ago and could click on a flight but then the "continue" button decided to redirect to the Error 500!

Got through on the phone. Christmas confirmed 2J+1F To the US August Europe for two weeks “on hold” - agents will look.

Agent mentioned 70+ calls waiting on hold (I assume to the VIP team, and I also assume that’s high)
