Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

With the Bid for Upgrades - are members using this to put in a bid that is higher than the request upgrade amount to try to jump the queue, or are you using it to put in a lower amount to hopefully snag a J seat cheap that they haven't been able to fill by other means?
Bid Now Upgrades are only processed after Classic Upgrade requests have been processed/confirmed, so not sure it's going to help anyone jump the queue. I think the goal would be more to snag a "cheap" upgrade. Can't say I've ever bothered with them personally, but who knows, perhaps I'm missing a trick?

OK cheers - wasn't aware that bid now's get processed after Classic Upgrade requests have been filled. I've got a Classic Upgrade request in for my HKG-SYD flight so I will stick with that then! (not overly hopeful of getting it as when I picked my Y seat that was looking pretty full.

QF 773 MEL-PER last Wednesday.

Booked Tuesday Morn, request put in Tue eve when I saw the back was already chockas. Confirmed around 0800, approximate five hours prior to departure.

Interestingly, I bumped in to a friend of mine in the lounge who was on work travel for QF. He was assigned 4B and got a new ticket for 3C at the gate. We were both about the last to board.

Partial success Y > Y+ on QF12 LAX-SYD as a WP @ T-20

A little surprising given it is a Wednesday and there were 8 J seats for sale yesterday.

I understand classic upgrades are higher in the queue than Bid for upgrades so it wouldn’t be to jump the queue

Failed upgrade QF30 HKG - MEL. seems to be full flight.. even in economy..
Just out of curiosity- which day are you flying and I feel it is not surprising as many HKers are leaving hkg now… sry to see you can’t upgrade but it is common on this route now in my personal opinion

QF30 has been a bit of a lottery - when I came back a few months ago J was fully booked and there was about 20 Y passengers only. Cheeky buggers were constantly pinging me with messages before the flight offering exit row seats for points, seat with nobody beside me for points etc etc.

I'm flying QF128 HKG-SYD in a couple of weeks - will see how that is.

Just curious at T-16 EF shows J9 C9 D9 I8

Would that generally imply they've upgraded most of the requests or are they yet to process them?

They should have upgraded anyone they were going to upgrade. An empty seat doesn’t necessarily mean it will go to an upgrade.

Out of interest, what’s the flight in question?
