With the FF system undergoing overnight maintenance tonight, I wonder if a whole heap of upgrade requests are simply going to be discarded.

Interesting question. QF did state that during the outage window they won't be able to prioriorise status for phone calls, which suggests the outage won't even be able to provide that information to other systems... so will upgrade requests be properly processed during the twelve hour window?

Obviously I don't know. You'd hope that they've thought about this and somehow put in a workaround, but well... who knows.

QF10 PER-MEL January 2023.
Put in for points upgrade as SG for 3 of us. Reward Y to J then Y+ as 2nd chance draw.
Highly unlikely, went for upgrade more out of interest and data point.
3 hours, couldn't care less.

Report back in New year.
QF10 PER-MEL Jan15th successful from Y to Y+, no luck for J. (My SG got us access to that transit lounge, thought we'd have to QF pub it)

I actually phoned & cancelled the upgrade 4 days prior & then again 3 days prior, both times the cancellation failed, QF operator just said yes it's cancelled, but may not show up on the app as cancelled. Ah really, anyway.

T24 or so confirmed upgraded to Y+. was half a doz seats in J I noticed. no matter.

what I'd expect from QF, cant cancel an upgrade bid.
Also 3 of us + infant, crazily split us up wife + infant in front row centre seats, with 2 spare next to her, son & I behind with 1 spare next to us, why not place 3 of us together in 1 row, 1 booking 1 family. oh the balancing of aircraft I've heard before.

Anyway pleasant trip from Perth.

Upgraded Sydney to Brisbane on today’s 544, $70 bucks and no points. Put in for it late the night before having only booked it the night before.
Noiceeeee :D Did you book a Flex Y ticket ? Did you get an email after purchasing the ticket to upgrade? $70 seems very less for a QF upgrade, even for Domestic routes.

Yes was a flex ticket, straight after booking got the email and offered the least amount possible.

When I woke up the email saying upgrade was sitting waiting for me.

That is really good. Out of curiosity, how much was the J fare at the time of booking? If you noticed?

If QF accepted (set the upgrade at $70 in the first place) bid at their entry level price point - makes me wonder if there were a lot of J seats unsold?

The J price was about 800 and Y flex was 540.

When I went in for seat selection after the upgrade about a third empty.

Sitting on the plane right now and J has one empty seat but they haven’t closed the door yet.

I’m in 1C

I did that route this afternoon and was 175 on a reward ticket to upgrade. Glad I didn’t bother as I could fly ahead in Y very easy as J was full. However, J was 80% occupied by pilots and staff.

BNE was empty…no one at premium security and lounge sparsely occupied.

Successful upgrade to J on points on yesterday evening's QF 474 MEL to SYD.

I couldn't decide if the points were worth such a short flight. In the end, I decided that if I was successful, it was good, but if I wasn't, the flight wasn't that long anyway.
