Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Mr FM got an upgrade, award Y to J for cbr-Mel QF855 on Tuesday (T-72). Ms FM and I already had “ instant” upgrades which we got last year. She and I already have our upgrades for coming back on Thursday so hoping he gets another one. J is generally quite empty middle of the day for the CBR-MEL run, esp if parliament isn’t sitting.
And Mr FM was successful again for Mel-CBR QF818. That’s 6 upgrades across the 2 flights. :)

Meant to post these a few weeks ago...
Two failures over Christmas/New Year:
Lowly SG here, 2 pax on bookings
26 Dec 2019 - SYD to BKK - QF23 - no upgrade (requested when ticket booked in April)
4 Jan 2020 - BKK to SYD - QF24 - no upgrade (requested when ticked booked in April)
Both flights were very full so not really surprised that there was no upgrade

Slightly Off Topic - tiny muffin and cup of tea for breakfast coming back BKK to SYD - seriously is that what breakfast in Y has come to? I was hungry when I got off the plane and had a real breakfast when I got home :-)

Denied at long last on last night’s QF82 SIN-SYD with SMS confirming the sad fact at around T-10 hours. Flight had been J0/J1 on-and-off for a week, so I knew it was a long shot.

Cheers,
Matt.

Failure on QF56 LAX-BNE on Fri 31 Jan - J and PE were full. Two seats Discount PE to J requested, advised approx 12 hours before departure.

Success of QF108 2x Y to J. Requested them ages ago with previous points value. Only inconvenience was that it was a fully "masked" flights but OK...

And now success on the return Y->J on QF94 LAX-MEL for Thu Feb 13. Notified at T-28 as a WP. Looking forward to this one as it is my first experience in a refurbished A380.

Success 1 x Y > J QF93 MEL-LAX on Mon 17 Feb as WP (T-30)
Success 1 x Y > W QF94 LAX-MEL on Fri 21 Feb as WP (T-16)

Interesting on the latter. A colleague on the same flight put in a request for W > J as SG which cleared. I assume that QF always try and maximise points yield and facilitate two upgrades rather than going purely on status and leaving points on the table?

Also meant to post these a while ago.

Failed Y > J QF11 on Sat 21 Dec 2019 as WP (T-10)
Success Y > Y+ on same flight

Failed Y > J QF12 on Thu 9 Jan 2020 as WP (T-14)

Both upgrade requests put in in Aug 2019.

I inquired at the check0in counter about my upgrade on QF12, and was told by the agent that "the flight has accepted the maximum number of FF points." What does this mean?

It sounds like they are trying to say there are no [upgrade] seats left... but a very unusual way of putting it
