Earlier this year in June:

QF SYD 0011 | SYDNEY - LAX | FLEXIBLE ECONOMY | Upgraded with points to Premium Economy, Business rejected.

QF LAX 0016 | LAX - BNE | FLEXIBLE ECONOMY | Upgraded with points to Business class.

27/10/23 both requests successful (WP)

QF600 MEL-BNE Y>J (T-73)
QF119 BNE-AKL Y>J (T-12)

28/10 LHR to SYD. WP unsuccesful PE (W) to J.

since becoming WP in August i have had 2/2 successful upgrades on QF1 and 0/2 successful on QF2. so 50% hit rate. just unlucky or is this normal ?

9 Nov 23 - LAX to MEL - 2 Passengers from Flexible Economy to Business unsuccessful

Second option of Flexible Economy to Premium Economy successful, however we’ve been separated (and it looks a full cabin, so unable to change using the app) and one of us is requiring mobility assistance, so, less than ideal. Have called the US based number and they’ve said go to the airport and we should be able to be seated together at check in, so that’s something.

yes, no doubt the flight is under airport control so they couldn't do anything with the seating. good luck!
We got to the airport to drop our bags and were told we had to get moved regardless. My partner was at the bulkhead and they couldn’t seat her there with the mobility issue, so we ended up together… all’s well that ends well
