QF1 SYD-LHR, 5 Oct, discount W to J. Gold travelling with Bronze in the same booking.

Upgraded around T-20. Never received any notification just noticed in the app our W boarding pass was no longer and the app was saying ‘check in at airport’.

Rang call centre and they said that the booking had not ticketed. They said lucky you rang as you would of had major problems tomorrow when you got to the airport.

After ticketing completed, app updated to not checked in again and was able to go online and complete check in again.

QF295 SYD -> BKK Monday 7 Oct 2024 - Classic Flight Upgrade Reward upgrade from Premium Economy Classic Reward redemption to Business - 2 pax - lead traveller is SG - there were only 4 available seats in Business as at Saturday 5 October so must have not been many CLs/P1s/WPs requesting upgrades. Upgrade came through at T-28. Very happy as I quite like the Finnair J seat.

Sorry if this has been asked to death already, but for a QF1/2 upgrade request, if you fail to secure an upgrade on the 1st leg, are you still able to be upgraded at the gate for the 2nd leg or does failing the 1st leg void the entire request?

For my QF2 flight, LHR>SIN looks unlikely i'll get upgraded but there are plenty of Business class seats for the SIN>SYD leg.

are you still able to be upgraded at the gate for the 2nd leg

This would imply yes.

International Classic Upgrade Rewards up to the gate

Upgrades may become available at the last minute due to cancellations, no-shows or missed connections. To increase your chances of an upgrade your request will be further considered at the airport. When eligible simply select 'Register me for an upgrade at the airport' when you register for a Classic Upgrade Reward.
Before opting-in to be eligible for an upgrade up to the gate, please note:
  • For upgrades at the airport, if you're travelling continuously on a flight that stops in one or more ports (with the same flight number), you'll only be eligible for an upgrade on the last leg and only if that last leg has a flying time longer than three hours. Points will only be deducted for the portion of your flight that was upgraded.

QF67 12/10/24 SYD-BLR, Y (saver)-J, unsuccessful as plat, sadly was expecting it as J was sold out a week before.

I've had different upgrades for different legs, some received in SIN at the gate. If you don't get it in advance, it's still possible (though rare) mid-trip.

Sorry if this had been mentioned before as I haven't read all posts. Strange experience today. Booked a red e fare to Perth from Sydney and my expert flyer search showed no U availability. After booking put in request for upgrade expecting to get the usual "you've been registered" but got upgrade instantly. I am P1 and LTG. Never had this experience before. It was either great timing with a U seat becoming available just when I requested it, or QF have changed their algorithm. Anyone else experienced this?
