Ordered the Shadowfax Chardy (after reading a good review) & the SC Pannell GSM.

I already had the bonus for my 4th dozen in 2012, so joined up Mrs GCC for $59 (included free gift bottle of red). Between the Easter mixed red dozen special and this offer she's spent $450 for 2 dozen bottles and nearly 8000 QFF points.

I was a tad indulgent, 2 x half dozen mix, half a dozen cab sav and half a dozen Riesling. But, as I entered my CC details, I thought to myself, that's 8000 points plus 1300 base points plus the 650 or so Amex points. So all up 10000 points for some well priced wine which I'll drink at home on a Friday night, take to an Indian restaurant and, in the case of the chardy, benefit my colleagues at Friday night drinkies!

Am going to grab some chardonay through this offer, but I seem to recall some less than positive comments about the Flametree when it was in the x-mas mixed dozens last year. Has anyone tried the Shadowfax?

I'm one of those who is over Sav Blanc, and has rediscovered chardonnay through the modern styles.
I first thought the Flametree tasted like thinners, but after the second and subsequent glass it gets much better. Quite fuller bodied than most. I actually bought a case of it plus the GSM.

Sounds more like the corks were dried out, possibly caused by cellaring in a dry environment.

What was the wine like? Was it oxidised or dull?

Did anyone who ordered the Peter Lehmann Stonewell 2001 Shiraz from a recent order open same?

I opened a pair soon after receipt using my usual trusty corkscrew and both corks disintegrated. They didn't appear to be in bad condition - just brittle.

Tonight, a third bottle, opened carefully with corkscrew had the same result. I then retreated to my 'waiters friend' and the cork came out fine.

I guess I may have thought to use the waiters friend first up on a 2001 bottle, but normally its 20+ yo corks that might cause an issue.

Anyone else have this problem? Wondering if its a bad batch of corks.

Just bought the Red Claw Pinot Noir and SC Pannell Grenache Shiraz Mataro. 4809 Points for $269.88

Happy with that.

Not sure if these have been mentioned.

My order arrived today, very fast delivery.

After the amount of wine consumed on Saturday between the SYD Flounge, ADL QP, Hilton Lounge, Wah Hing and Hilton lobby bar I think it will be at least a few days before I open the SC Pannell to try it!

If anyone is keen on Mumm, Myer seem to have a decent offer currently. A triple pack of individually packaged "Mumm Cordon Rouge Champagne, dressed to
impress in an elegant Patrick Jouin dinner jacket." for $120+delivery. But they offer 2000 Myer one credits which equates to a $20 voucher. Makes the bottles $33 each plus whatever delivery is.

I'm not a fan so I haven't explorer farther.

Half an hour ago my case was in transit, the next suburb over, so I assume I'll have a delivery tomorrow morning. Something to look forward to!

(sorry for the newbie question but...) - Is it too late to take advantage of this offer? T&C on the email state Offer Ends April 17 - does that mean I should have ordered the wine yesterday, or is today (17th) still ok.

Thanks

Offer ends today, they tend to stop promos at midnight on the Wednesday night and then have a new one Thursday late AM.

I may have deleted the email for an offer. I can't recall exactly what it was, maybe somehere can chime in. It was for either half or a dozen of red/whites for $69 or something like that plus bonus QFF points....
