Qantas Wine latest offering

"Wondering here what the 2011 was like...? Price looks ok when compared with dans (2012 vintage)"

Jeremy Oliver gives the 2011three stars and 93/100 and says its "very fine, elegant, supple and savoury"

Vintage Direct (Nicks Wine Merchants) have the 2011 Petaluma Chardonnay at $22.99 ($270/ doz). However its only rated at 88points. EpiQure said 2011 was a particularly difficult year. It was quite wet and cold at vintage in most of SE Australia. WA and Tas escaped this weather though.

2011 Petaluma White Label Chardonnay - Vintage Direct

Now that is a bargain :)
Can't say I was disappointed with the 2011 Petaluma. Maybe my palate's not as refined as I thought

Hey we all know that if it tastes good, drink it. Wine is very subjective, and Jeremy Oliver gave this 93 points, so that is quite a discrepancy. A 93 point wine is a helluva lot better than an 88 pointer.

I really like the mature oaked style chards and am currently wading through some 2004 Stanleigh Chard and 2004 Whitebox Chard. The Whitebox has improved markedly (to my palate) over the last 2 years.

So how is the 2011 Petaluma. Is it at all oaky?

It certainly has oak but isn't overwhelmed by it.

The Wolf Blass Limited Edition is quite a nice drop, and it will definitely age well...

But I'm not sure I want to pay $72 for it when I can pay ~$72 for a Jetstar ticket and get a free meal and free air transport along with my bottle of wine :p

I guess if I bought any I would put it away to age ;)

It is...but 2011 was a very difficult vintage in the Barossa. Not tried this wine and I'm sure there are still some very good wines from the vintage. I personally would not touch any Barossa red without trying it first at that price point, especially being a single vineyard wine.

Indeed, I will check which vintage they are serving in the F lounge and taste accordingly :p

I wonder if its 2000 for the first dozen on a wine plan or simply the first 12 of any bought, somewhat misleading in that respect:
