Qatar Airways Lounge in Singapore T1

I gave this a try the other night and no dice. Arrived QF J and departed MH Y and was directed to the Mahaba Lounge. Obviously just went and had about 5 courses in the QF F lounge but would have been nice to return to the QR Premium Lounge.
Should not have happened. I was successful on a QF award ticket where ZRH - HEL - SIN (AY) was in J, and QF SIN - SYD in Y.

OR: Arrive at SIN in J on OW and depart SIN in Y on OW 😜 I did that before and no problem accessing QR Premium Lounge

Going by the oneworld rules, you only have lounge access when your inbound long-haul business class flight connects to a short-haul or domestic flight. The definition of long-haul seems to be 5 hours or more.

Therefore, it would depend on what flight you're taking in/out of Singapore as to whether you'd be granted access based on the connecting rule. Strictly following the rules, muppet should have had access, and exLXCXFF should not have.

Likely the lounge staff aren't well trained on this scenario as it's possibly not too common.

Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:
  • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
  • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.

I agree, but QR notoriously ignores OW lounge access rules. I’d be surprised if this is one it chose to accept.

We need a few more data points I think to work out where QR stands.

ah wow - that’s so interesting. You are right, if these are the rules, they should definitively not let me in!

First time in the QR lounge here, really like it, perhaps my favourite lounge in SIN.
Got off the EK red eye from MEL travelling onto KUL on MH in J so thankfully could access it. sure beats the SATS lounge.

Small, intimate, nicely furnished, very attentive service.

Do they still have a choice of Champagnes? I was there in 2019 and loved the food and Champagne. I think there were 2 on offer.

Menu tonight, still my fav lounge over QF F after all these years
