QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

I guess it gives them 2 opportunities to catch up on any delays every 6 days, both times when the aircraft is in london for 7 or 8 hours.

I imagine the QF93/94 /107/108 times may be adjusted to somehow allow for a 120 minute turn in Melbourne

The 120min TAT in MEL from 94 to 93 is the only solution available that i can see.

Forget the ferry flights , they won't happen. the new schedule links QF1 / 10 / 9 / 2 in a 6 day W flying pattern , so 93/94 will sit out of this as a stand alone pattern , (although the aircraft may exchange with 11/ 12 in LAX ). The down time in SYD from QF2 arrival to QF1 will be used for incidental maintenance as it is now .

But in doing so you effectively kill QF93/94 connections to QF 107/8 in at least one direction, as QF94 would have to leave LAX at least an hour earlier to do the turn around in MEL to become QF93. Maybe there are enough delays with QF 108 (1-0-late)-> QF 94 to make this a non-issue, and they'll simply schedule 94 to leave earlier, leaving 108 people on 108 to connect in SYD. However, at the moment the current scheduling will NOT work unless there is a ferry flight, so either it's a ferry flight or they will re-schedule one or both of 93/94, which begs the question, why did they not re-schedule these when they did for QF 9/10?

From the Qantas Source
The new schedule, from July 20th, retimes the Melbourne services and means aircraft will fly a six day W pattern originating in Sydney. The aircraft schedule will be follows:
QF1 Sydney 1550 – Dubai 0035+1
QF1 Dubai 0215 – London Heathrow 0645

QF10 London Heathrow 1330 – Dubai 2325
QF10 Dubai 0115+1 – Melbourne 2055

QF9 Melbourne 2255 – Dubai 0705+1
QF9 Dubai 0905 – London Heathrow 1340

QF2 London Heathrow 2125 – Dubai 0720+1
QF2 Dubai 0920 – Sydney 0510+1.

This has been taken into account but doesn't solve the QF93/94 mystery. I wouldn't be ruling out ferry flights just yet, although I don't think it's the most likely course of action.

I am flying on QF10 on the 19th of August LHR-MEL-BNE - with the new timings I have to stay in MEL when I land around 9pm on the 20th - and back at the airport early on the 21st - it appears I can book Chauffeur drive in both MEL and BNE - does that seem right? Will I be able to book it to LHR, from MELi on the 20th to my accomm, back to MELd on the 21st and from BNEd to my place on the 21st?

Can you do it online?

It gives me the option to book either - but given I haven't sorted accom that far down the track I didnt want to make a dummy booking and have any issues if I cancelled/rebooked - thought maybe it was just offering me the choice of either - and wouldnt offer a second booking once the first was booked. I guess I shall find out in 2 months!

Should be fine - I was offered transfers each way for a 15 hour overnight connection Long haul Int to NZ. I booked both.

Cheers serfty, Ill give it a go. Now if anyone is on the MEL-LHR leg departing August 4 and felt generous enough to guest me into the FLounge... :)

Now on QF9 and QF2 so both flights changed, more annual leave and $ for accommodation way there, less time in Paris way back. Spent 4 hours/6 conversations on the phone to them, lost my prepaid seating, was told to suck it up because things change and that's life. I won't book with Q again. The stakes are too high if you're going for something significant - like your honeymoon. If you're not flying business or platinum, they don't care.

So, does this not apply then?

Select Your Seat in Advance | Qantas

9. Advance Seat Selection is non-refundable unless:
(a) Qantas changes your seat for operational, safety or security reasons (even after boarding the aircraft), and we are unable to seat you in a suitable alternative.
(b) there is a flight disruption causing you to be moved to another flight and Qantas is unable to seat you in a suitable alternative on your new flight
(c) Qantas moves you to a flight not operated by Qantas

Lost as in no exit row seats available on the new flights. Got 71D&E way there though which is something.

Also got this: "You have already purchased seating for this itinerary. If you wish to change seats, the purchased value is transferrable for other flights in this itinerary, but is non refundable."

I would argue as QF has made the change, not you. That stinks that you have lost the value of the exit seats due to a QF action.

I agree, and I would be asking for a refund, if refusal persists, taking it up with the card provider and or consumer affairs/small claims.

As per the quoted conditions (9b) the exit row seating fee is refundable. Qantas changed the flights and are not able to offer an exit row on the new flight.

If I demand a refund, it means I have truly lost the battle. They've already told me to stick it, I should shake the denial and admit defeat. CM vs. Q is a war I will not win. Maybe I'll play the chick card, cry over the phone and see if one of the robots in the call centre react in the slightest.
