QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

What leisure traveller in their right mind would go to LHR in the middle of winter :?::shock:. I never go near there between November and May :p.

School holidays JohnM, that is the answer...

I've only seen F award availability once for a date in December and I've been monitoring almost everyday. I was expecting that when the A380 introduction was announced QF would release F awards for all dates but that wasn't the case.

There are some in late June 2015, ie as far out as possible that can be booked now...

A few days after the fact, but - gee - good to see a QF A380 (or any QF metal) at the Melbourne International Terminal at 8pm tonight.

Wishing this retiming every success.

Regards,

BD

The website is still showing 0445-1800.

The Android app says the same, although there is a note stating that the spa opens till 1900 so I suppose the lounge would be open until at lease then (and beyond).

All us poor saps up here in northern North America for whom LHR is actually warmer than where I live in the winter .

Looking forward to the new MEL timing, much better than before. My only thought is when QF10 lands in MEL, it doesn't appear there are any legal connections available. So, QF10 is going to be almost all MEL-destination passengers, or people willing to overnight before continuing onward. Good for me as someone whose preferred Australian destination is MEL, but I sense there might be some rather light days for that arrival.

I am assuming (hoping) that this is just an oversight. I am in F on QF9 in a bit over a week and will be surprised and a bit upset if they don't have the F lounge open for it.

As indicated upthread, the First lounge will be open for QF9.

Just flown QF9 in F (points upgrade).
Overall a good experience. Telephoned by the First Host the day before and booked a 9pm facial. Reserved a private suite as a couple of my kids were with me. Great service from the wait staff, tried a couple of new things from the Spring menu (Bibim Goksu and the Banana Tart)
The last spa appointment is at 2200 and an announcement is made immediately after the QF 9 boarding call that the F Lounge is now closed.
The meal service for F is as follows:
MEL-DXB Supper and Breakfast
DXB-LHR Lunch (no second meal/refreshment service)
Of note it appears that there is no tasting menu on QF9 anymore (previously it was available MEL-DXB).
I think given the timings this is inevitable and I certainly wouldn't partake of a tasting menu at midnight AEST. I have the menus and wine list from the flight and will try to upload them later.

On the ball as usual Princes Fiona. ;)
Had the banana tart yesterday before heading to NZ. A little dissapointed, so I immediately followed it up with the pav....!!!

I know a few Spanish people who would argue that midnight is the only civilised time to have dinner/supper!:p

So that'd mean the F lounge would close around 2215, give or take?
