QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

Nothing new here, this is the same schedule changes announced a few months ago.
Personally speaking I think it's great. Having the choice of landing in LHR very early in the morning and heading to the arrivals lounge or arriving early afternoon and actually being able to go straight to hotel and check-in.
It was always a madness IMHO having two flights from SYD and MEL at virtually the same time.

Absolutely agree wholeheartedly with your observations.

And to have the MEL FLounge open longer is a huge bonus .

The standard QF international MEL J Lounge when I visited back in May was literally bursting at the seams with people using the lounge after the current F lounge closing time of 6:30pm..... This will allow pressure off the J lounge as well & provide higher status customers with a excellent lounge to use that is the wonderful F lounge in MEL.

Sorry if I have missed it, but has it been confirmed the F lounge will be open longer? If so, have exact times been published?

The F lounge only serves 2 qantas flights a day that offer first class so yes it will be open for the QF9 departure

I agree with Princess Fiona, mannej and others that the MEL - DXB - LHR 21 July 2014 timetable changes are a smart move and what other airlines and surface travel operators such as many railways do: offer a range of departure times, daily.

If the fares stay at the same relativity to other carriers (and assuming economic conditions do not change, sometimes a big ask), patronage should rise because of the more passenger friendly timetables.

That said, can other AFFers see the 2255 QF9 often departing late because I assume that it is formed by the 2055 arrival (QF10)?

As previously discussed, this does however 'save' one A380 as it is far more efficient aircraft utilisation than the current QF1/2/9/10 schedules.

If it is more efficient, it must save QF money.

While I choose other airlines in preference to EK or QF, nonetheless leisure travellers would almost all find a 1340 arrival at LHR vastly preferable to an 0510 or 0610 one...brrrr in the middle of winter!

What leisure traveller in their right mind would go to LHR in the middle of winter :?::shock:. I never go near there between November and May :p.

One from Victoria, Tassie, or southern NSW who can cope with damp dreary winters :-)

In all seriousness, because there are so many indoor things to do in London, the weather is not as much of a constraint, as it perhaps would be elsewhere in the UK.

Not everyone is lucky enough to choose their time of travel, or they could be on their way to the Alps.

There are good pubs all over the UK...and mostly away from London!!

Has anyone seen any F award seat availability on this SYD-DFW leg? QF engine is only showing me emirates via Dubai for all of 2015. Perhaps it just became a very popular route, but previously I didn't have problems finding J legs.

I've only seen F award availability once for a date in December and I've been monitoring almost everyday. I was expecting that when the A380 introduction was announced QF would release F awards for all dates but that wasn't the case.
