QF AMEX Ultimate Card - 100k bonus

The destinations available to you are based on where you live. For once, living in Perth is quite advantageous.

I've heard that some people might "move" to another location in order to get the flights they want. Obviously if you happened to be living in Perth so far as Amex are concerned, your flights would need to originate here.

Thanks - it's probably not worth changing my address to Perth just to get to the cricket there - guess I'll have to book with the Qantas DSC and go to Brisbane for a weekend

I understood any of the flights shown on the map can be booked under any name, I've not seen it mentioned anywhere that you can only book from your home address?

The flights available are those based on where you choose to start out from. You do not need to book flights originating in your home city.

The transactions are showing in the point list, but no bonus points showing

Having the same issue. 2500 Points for the first QF transaction posted fine, but still waiting for the 110k signup points. The transaction that pushed me over the $1500 limit posted a week ago. Guess I will wait for my statement.

Does anyone have experience changing the free flight and know if/what fees apply?

when I look online it doesn't give the option of Perth from Adelaide - only Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne

I wonder if that's new? Been booking PER -> ADL for me free flight for the last 8 years or so at Xmas time.

If you read the Terms and conditions Here

The acceptable city pairings are from

Adelaide to BNE/MEL/SYD
Brisbane to ADL/MEL/SYD
Melbourne to ADL/BNE/SYD
PERTH to ADL/MEL/SYD
Sydney to ADL/BNE/MEL
Canberra to MEL/SYD

As you can see, the most "value" is derived from those who originate the trip in Perth.

75 QF status credits for new applicants. But the current sign up bonus is only 75k.

The ANZ Black Amex has the same offer but stipulates must not have held card in the past 12 months. It isn't that explicit for the Ultimate in ABT's language, so I wonder if existing cardholders are eligible.

Also, ' Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards attaining or retaining Platinum One or Loyalty Bonus'

Nope. When did you apply? I'm just waiting for the next statement and then cancel the card. Hopefully they'll refund the fee.

Has anyone else rang to cancel but not had the cancel process happen correctly? By that I mean you thought it was cancelled but it actually remained open?

As I mentioned earlier in the thread I rang to cancel a couple of weeks ago and was given a refund of the annual fee. Logged in the other day to find the account is still open so called them to see if I could simply switch to the Platinum Edge card (wasn't able to). Asked if I could still use the free flight and hen cancel after I book it and he said was no problem to do that but also gave me 1,500pts. :S

Would suggest anyone in the same situation at the very least books the complimentary flight before following up on the cancelation.

Doesn't look like I'm getting my 110,000 bonus points :(

I made the $1500 spend within 45 days and upon the second round of QF auto points transfer (60 days from sign up) there are no 110,000 line items appearing. Speaking with a CSR they did remind me that I was an existing cardholder (Explorer) and that this was negate my bonus points. Nevertheless, the CSR put through a request to the right team to ask them to look into it but I'm not hopeful.

Now I just need clarity on whether I can use the free flight and still get a prorata refund or not.

Sorry to hear that Gold Member.

But I appreciate you sharing as I will look elsewhere while I observe a few more phases of the moon.

Does anyone know if the bonus SC's post in the status year following the flight that triggers them, whether they retroactively apply to the status year flown or do they apply to the new year? If that sounds confusing, say I fly in June, status anniversary is June 30th 2017 and the bonus 75 SCs post in say August 2017, do they then apply to the anniversary year the flight was taken (2016-2017) or to the year they post in (2017-2018)?

Just called up to cancel since I didn't get the bonus points. Was offered a change to the Discovery Card and full refund of the $450. Very friendly agent mentioned she could offer a full refund since its been less than 30 days since I paid the annual fee, just as a heads up for anyone looking to cancel as well.
