I agree the pricing should be half of J.

If travelling alone, for business, then I buy a J ticket. If I take the wife, on the trip, at a slower pace, then I should be able to purchase 2 PE tickets.

Unfortunatly, in particular CX, PE has been subject to much cost cutting but fares have increased.

Qantas Boeing 787-9 premium economy seat

Thoughts? Hardly revolutionary but looks nice are my first impressions.

I've shared this in the premium economy seat thread but think it bears adding here also: I've confirmed the 'premium loo' arrangements on the Qantas Boeing 787... of the three lavs in the business class cabin, only one WC (that at the very front of the cabin) will be exclusively for J flyers.

The two lavs at the rear of the main business class cabin will be shared between business class and premium economy. Good news for premium economy passengers but for business class travellers, not so much...

Seat 1K is looking better and better!

So bathrooms 1:23 for J/Y+ and 1:41 for Y.

I'm looking at the seat map and wondering if they could have split the centre section between the doors down the middle and had 2-2 premium economy then 2-1 Y and used one of the Y toilets for Y+use.

OR

Run the "rear J cabin" along the wall on one side and use J toilet (1:21 toilet ratio) then run Y+ at the front (where middle rows of the remainder in 3-2) with the forward toilet on that side the Y+ toilet. And kept Y seating towards the rear.

But i guess that is too many bulkheads / walls etc.

Am busy reading through the posts for the Perth to London direct flights - apologise now if the pricing has been spoken of in one of the threads already.

Just wondering if anyone has heard any indicative pricing as yet for the Premium Economy or Business Class flights (I know there will be specials from time to time - but just wondering about general everyday usual pricing) - will pricing be comparative to the flights via Dubai or Singapore or significantly cheaper do you think?

Am hoping the pricing is somewhat cheaper than that the flights via Dubai or Singapore, as we fly to London in 2018 (with a side trip to Iceland and Norway.. yippee sorry just had to throw that in!), we are north west so will still be a significant drive to Perth to commence the flight (costs to fly from our town to Perth are astronomical for 3 and we would prefer to add a day driving instead - $2-3k to fly for 1.40 hrs is ridiculous.) but if we could fly direct to London from Perth that will be welcomed. If not we will either go via Singapore or Dubai - nice to have options though.

QF PER LHR still not for sale

So the long awaited (at least by some) PER LHR direct slated for March 18 still isn't for sale, though we can search for March 18 flights on qantas.com If I were to guess I'd probably go with the idea that the aircraft delivery schedule isn't looking good. Seems surprisingly little news to be found on the subject - last I found was an AFR piece on redesigned crockery... Anyone know anything about the service?

Re: QF PER LHR still not for sale

There are a number of threads in QFF forum discussing the route. I don't think Qantas have the aircraft yet. Not sure when the first delivery is due.

Re: Qantas: non-stop Australia (Perth)-Europe (London) Boeing 787 flights set to soar

It's rumoured that the flights may go on sale sometime this week. Anyway it must be sometime soon.

We should also get some clarity on what will happen to the much loved QF9 and QF10 A380 services between MEL and LHR.

Think it's clear. QF9 becomes a 789 MEL-PER-LHR r/t

the A380's cleared up by this change.... good question. I could see going on to 127/128 HKG for at least one shell. Free up a 744 to maybe operate another frequency to somewhere else.

Or they could keep MEL-DXB, though seems they will ceede that to EK.

Perhaps MEL-HKG become year round instead of seasonal.

many possibilities

(or they retire some 744's)

Yes, but if you're on the east coast, why would you want to go via Perth? Any other variation, Singapore HK, even Dubai, would be more comfortable. Makes great sense from Adelaide and west.....

Re: Qantas: non-stop Australia (Perth)-Europe (London) Boeing 787 flights set to soar

They'll lose a lot of MEL pax if they ditch the routing via the ME (or Asia). Very much hoping the A380 route remains, perhaps ending in a different EU city?

Like where?
The only places in Europe QF might want to go to either won't allow the needed landing rights (eg, France - A380/747 only allowed 3 flights/week - QF 787 config allowed 6), or the A380 is too large an aircraft to work.

Re: Qantas: non-stop Australia (Perth)-Europe (London) Boeing 787 flights set to soar

presumably the capacity would go where it's needed which at the moment is Asia, which is probably good news with more 330s being freed up for domestic and short haul routes (PER-SIN anyone...). getting rid of more gas guzzling 747s is on the cards too.

Like all the continental traffic connecting to EK, and any J pax who want to put in for an F upgrade
