Rather the question is - do some of the members of AFF understand the implemented nuances of QFF's computer systems better than the "business analysts" that are hired by QFF to create incentives which are designed to reach management goals?

In this case, I think (speculation) that QF wanted a lot of cash to sit in their escrow accounts. In the end in matters not whether it is prepaid tickets or vouchers. And they probably succeeded in achieving that goal. The measurement of the QFF member interest in "cheap SCs" likely was a free bonus.

Having built and implemented business critical computer systems (by myself) and having watched them be replaced by a team of six ten years later, my opinion of current IT practices is "marginal"

Well that's all well and good to have a measuring competition with the IT developers. But you simply have not addressed my question about the sensibility of this discussion. Sometimes it is better to just not mention certain things, like the b**.

But it's great that you're brilliant at IT. How about creating your own thread on that topic?
 
As Red Roo did in fact point out that vouchers were acceptable in their post and this was done before the expiry of the booking time, the fact that they were eligible was well known to QF.

Discussion is now moot given the relevant dates have passed for purchase of vouchers with which to utilise for the DSC.

If QF happen to change it in subsequent offers, then they will have considered the numbers purchased to be "gaming the system" by those clever enough to implement (from here and other sites). I would wager that they are merely incidental to the overall flights purchased (both in numbers and $). Engagement of the travelling public was the overall aim to bring forward their purchasing decisions and again I would wager that the number of people emailed or saw the banner ad on their main page (and who clicked through and registered) certainly made QF's management happy with their decision to make the offer

The linked post doesn't really say that they were acceptable - I'm not really sure what that means as vouchers have always been acceptable for promos.

the conclusion about the relevance of the discussion is interesting.
 
I booked and flew flights I would not have booked without the DSC offer so I think both QANTAS and myself have benefited from my use of the DSC offer.
 
For the outbound flight on my recent trip (booked during promo but changed dates of flights after booking period) I have now got my double SCs! So I didn't need to change to Flex Economy, but I felt it was better to be safe than sorry.

Will hopefully get the double SCs for the return leg later this week.

Can anyone advise if an airfare booked prior to the promo was changed / upgraded from redi deal to business ( with cash) thus reissuing of tickets after registering during the promo , whether this would receive the double SC's?

No you won't because the original ticket date is still there... the ticket is re-issued but still has the same booking creation date
 
A related question to the contrarian discussion around this offer. I didn't think Qantas was able to charge credit card fees on bookings outside Australia? As removal of credit card fees is the only reason to use gift vouchers, I'm not sure why the purchase in Australia condition is important.
Slightly related to your question but Zuji passes on $30 Qantas credit card fee for bookings ex-KUL. Yes it is not Qantas directly but that is how Zuji describes the charge.

Could not agree more, so have I, WOULD have made Gold + a bit more but now my wife and I will both be Platinum. Our plan is for one of us just to use points in 2017 and 1 try and maintain Platinum status,. The other then gets a smooth landing to Gold in 2018 and silver in 2019. Even if the one with Platinum can't maintain in 2018 I reckon worse case scenario is one of us will still be Gold in 2020 with the benefits etc
Hopefully another one comes along in the next 3 years etc. If not then "ce la vie" !

Looks like I'm going to have to get on the phone to see what is going on.

The T&C's say it can take up to 6 weeks so you will likely get push back regardless of if others have got theirs already.

How long have you waited for the DSC to appear. usually the conditions say they can take upto 6 weeks.

I have been lucky with all DSC for this promotion posting quickly - the DSC for fight on Friday and Saturday (13/14th) posted Yesterday (17th) - previous flights took a similar amount of time
 
Given that most people including myself have received DSCs within a week of flying, I wouldn't wait 6 weeks and would give them a call. By the time you get a call centre callback it will be 6 weeks anyway. :mrgreen:

Calling would be a waste of time. they're just going to quote the 6 week period and tell you to wait.

assuming they get onto them within 6 weeks.
 
From experience ameno, it's worth calling and asking the question as to why they haven't tracked.

While it's true it can take a maximum of 6 weeks, if they haven't tracked within a week or two, there could be a problem. If you call, an agent will be able to identify if there are any issues. For example, if your registration hasn't gone through correctly, or if you've used a voucher, the booking date will be showing as the date of creation of your voucher, etc.

However, if there are no problems, you'll have to wait 6 weeks before any further investigation can be done.

For example I had a return flight in Y between Melbs and Sydney. The flight down was in discount (so 10 sc). The flight back was full economy (so 20 SC). However they have only posted 20SC for that day. Does this seem incorrect to you?

If it was double (and the total flights were 30sc for the day) wouldn't it post as 60sc all up?
 
That does seem off.
How did they post 2x 10sc? They should be credited in the same bundles you did the flights. so 1x10 1x20.
Someone mentioned that also had a 50% sc promo at the same time. If you also had another one its whatever promo you entered first.
 
Bonus status credits are credited for each route, not i total for the booking.

So if you're eligible for double, you'd get one credit of 10scr and one credit of 20scr

If you've only got them for your first flight, the system has done its weekly check after your first flight, and you'll get your return bonus status credits in the next check.

You just need to read the description of the credit. It will give the flight details. so when you say you got 20 SC is that in one transaction or 2? what does the description say. As an example (dates redacted):
