Not really, the first one is stating which fare classes are eligible to earn SC and points. The second is stating which fare classes is/isn't eligible for this promotion.

The first sentence says that U is eligible.
And the second one says that it is not.

Well this will put a dent in most people's ability to do a SC-run for WP. Probably not an entirely surprising development...

Off to LOTFAP we go, and if that fails I see MH and CX getting some customs, or in other words QF handing free money to other airlines lol.

No, the first statement states Z, U, Z, P classes can only earn points and SC if booked as a ASA. No mention of eligibility for this promotion at all. ie the stock standard T&C on which mASAs can earn points and SC.

The second statement is related to this promotion and states that U class fares cannot earn. And that only specific fares, and not all fares qualify for this promotion.

The two are mutually exclusive.

Edit: What blackcat20 said. U class fares will earn points and SC but not the bonus SC.

I guess time will tell to see if they apply this to all DSC's in the future. It seems to me that QF are hell bent on trying to piss off its customers.

MASA looks like still being able to earn SC but not the bonus SC offer as per this T & C - at the moment.

Looks like I'm too late to this party. I just started getting interested re my FF and Rewards status etc in the last few months. For someone like me contemplating my first "Rewards" bookings to use up my points and build some SC's, this is now totally overwhelming. The process... the rules, the conditions... I agree with others, the intention seems to be to make it all SO difficult and bamboozling that people just say "stuff it" and pay full tote odds, or use their points on Classic and forego the SC/FFP's.

I've only just made SG, and have only done one JASA so I probably don't have a dog in this fight. But doesn't this better align with what a lot of WP's have been saying? That it's so easy to become WP these days that there's little benefit to it?

Maybe if they make it harder to get, requiring more BIS-revenue flying (rather than JASA's off large ATO points haul combined with DSC offers) they can offer more benefits to WP's? After all, JASA's still earn Status Credits just not the bonus SC's.

It's obviously not good for people like us, and I would obviously prefer they make it as easy as possible for me to get high status, I'm just saying I can see their thinking.

They really are and this year has been no exception, this is just another example of very poor decision making and then customers finding out after the event, I can't believe how they are treating their loyal FF.

Phase 3 will be removal of xASA.

Only enhancement I can see is that once (M)xASA's are dead and gone, we might actually see some better points + pay pricing. If this is not the case then my value of QFF is dropping rapidly...

Phase 4 anyone...? Removal of upgrade requests on Red e-Deal...? Nothing surprises us anymore I guess

If this is true and not just mis-wording, then its very poor form...

I've already given a MEL-HKG-KUL-HKG-SYD holiday next month all to CX due to QF's poor multi-city booking tool.

While its impossible to discount the possibility of a mistake/incompetence, yet, I think the situation seems to be that the change to the T&Cs would be that U class ASA flights do earn their normal SC and points that they normally earn but are excluded from the bonus 1.5x offers (and possibly future double SC/Points offers).

If it is a mistake a correction should be out fairly shortly, if its not a mistake then I expect a very very long thread with some pretty annoyed QF flyers! :shock:

The offer specifically excluding U class is for flexi or better.

It is not yon standard offer.

I would wait until further offers including discount economy as well appear before getting too concerned.

Won't affect me because the blighters don't offer me DSC :shockwell, they did once, TT only IIRC and about 5 years ago and I couldn't use it at the time anyway).

I've long held the view that they (QF) do what they want to do, and I/we respond accordingly, but this exclusion seems a little petty (I mean how many customers actually use marginal JASAs anyway - very very few I'd posit). Which I guess is a reason for them doing it, as well as against.

It is something of a balancing act. If they (QF) start noticing some adverse effects on their business that they attribute to QFF program 'enhancements' then they'll either unenhance them, or introduce some new sweetener to try and rectify the damage.

I don't do this often enough, but I really should review the FFPs (the few that are practical for me to utilise) at least yearly against my flying habits and future needs and be prepared to jump ship to another. Problem is, once you make the jump, who is to say the other program you join won't get enhanced in the near future.
