Re: Qantas excludes ASAs in U bucket from bonus SC promos (effective for new promos??

they're making it easier and easier for me to switch everything over to CX... ASAs were a differentiator and should be pushed hard by QFF (increase revenues, reduce liabilities and further cement loyalty!).

seems like bean counters are trying to sweat the program - stupid, stupid move with all the competition out there...

You can already see QFF diversifying through the spread through QF Cash, dropping point earn at restaurants, introducing the QF search toolbar, etc. There's been a big and very public restructure. Biggest bell would be the proud disclosure of how many QFF members there are but omitting the breakdown of how many of each status.

Re: Qantas excludes ASAs in U bucket from bonus SC promos (effective for new promos??

I only learnt of MASA's once I joined this site. I have only used it once when it was online, but got me to SG for the first time, and I have qualified for SG already this year and way on my way to wards Plat for first time.
I wonder how many people apart from us "AFFers" actually use them? I wonder why Qantas has omitted them from this latest offer?
Apart from those questions, I do not think any good comes off from the "doomsdayers" of us to groan that this is the end of MASA's all together. (they have been saying that since first rumour hit this site)
This is playing into Qantas' hands, once more of us start to say it or agree it, they will willingly fulfil the prophecy.
We should only be putting up positive remarks about MASA's and make it hard for the Qantas pencil pushers to get rid of them!!

Re: Qantas excludes ASAs in U bucket from bonus SC promos (effective for new promos??

I hope people are checking their SC offers carefully before making bookings, because the U class eligibility is not the only difference in the fine print that has been put on AFF today. Some SC offers are valid for domestic flights only, while others are not limited to domestic.

With two 50% bonus offers going out on top of the requal/help qualify DSCs, combined with some very attractive sales for future travel, I wouldn't be surprised QF is struggling to fill seats and prioritising raising cash revenue over reducing liability by excluding mASA from the latest promotion. It's targeting a higher fare that will return more revenue and allocating seats from a pool that is much larger than what is available for classic awards.

Some SC offers are valid for domestic flights only, while others are not limited to domestic.

That's normal, there's even been cases of offers targeted at specific destinations like HKG. I've found offers that are limited to certain routes are made very clear and not hidden in the fine print.

Another quality QF enhancement! Aren't we all so lucky!!

In the same week that they loudly announce the "benefit" of earning with iSelect, a genuine "benefit" continues to be surreptitiously watered down in the shifting sands of "Terms and Conditions". Announced "benefits" only seem to relate to the bottom line of the QFF division.

A few other airlines and programs have been "benefitting" from my travel and spend since this latest round of 'enhancements' were first rumoured in April. If only I could work out if a Points+Pay booking with my remaining QFF points could be credited towards AA...

Terrible news. Another QFFail.

Re: Qantas excludes ASAs in U bucket from bonus SC promos (effective for new promos??

I have never got a DSC or a 1.5 SC bonus offer and was really waiting for one before I even attempt to retain WP but if mASA's won't be earning the bonus SC, it all seems too hard! Might have to contemplate going over to USA and earning credits that way... Not sure if it's worth retaining platinum though..

Nevertheless, disappointing "enhancement".

Re: Qantas excludes ASAs in U bucket from bonus SC promos (effective for new promos??

Tim, I got the same offer I think, was getting excited also but just saw small print "Any Seat Award bookings in U class are ineligible for this offer. " so mASA are no value. :(
Disappointing.

Off to LOTFAP we go, and if that fails I see MH and CX getting some customs, or in other words QF handing free money to other airlines lol.
I typed something up about abusing these deals as well but thought best not to post it.

Yep. For what it's worth for the QFF reps reading here I've already booked one Singapore Air trip next year and am close to booking a Virgin international flight too.

These ongoing "enhancements" are part of the reason for diversifying.

It's always worth reading the T&C's. This particular offer is a bit different in that it restricts itself to various fare classes. While reading all the sky is falling comments, you'd think that only 'U' is excluded, but actually red-e-deals etc are also excluded. Basically, the discounted fares are out, and Qantas have decided that includes ASAs booked in 'U'. It would be worth waiting for future promotions to see if the 'U' exclusion is going to be across the board, but keep in mind the fare restrictions of this offer are unusual altogether....

Re: Qantas excludes ASAs in U bucket from bonus SC promos (effective for new promos??

Went out of my way to use QF for a trade show trip to Shanghai, despite no free exit rows and going via Singapore instead of Hong Kong, due to QF abandoning PERTH. Why do we bother supporting them when they constantly bring these enhancements in. For the Y business travelers like me, I spend so much time in Y and double status offers and MASA's help people like me sneak from silver to gold or gold to platnium. I can tell you that I go out of my way. A) to fly and B) with QF or OW when QF isn't available. If it wasn't for being WP I reckon I would spend 2/10's of nothing with QF. Do the bean counters realise this.

Re: Qantas excludes ASAs in U bucket from bonus SC promos (effective for new promos??

Family pooling is GOOD!

Thanks Newk, if masa's are excluded from these SC offers, and permanently removed shortly, then I'll just have to be happy to stay at gold before it all becomes "too hard"

Thankfully I have burnt all my points in the past 3 months so now I dont need to bother too much about how their valuation has fallen. Time to enjoy qantas gold while slowly checking out the other mob based on sales in either camp, with family pooling, gold in the other camp should be quite easy I think.

Well thats my rough plan anyway, back to you now Qantas, your move.... eventually you'll run out of actual BIS flying members to enhance  so good luck with that...

But you are WP and you do fly Qantas.... therefore the QFF system is working :!:

Agreed. I also note that it seems TT 'I' class isn't eligible either, which is where I tended to earn quite a few bonus SC's at times.
