Pretty pissed off. I am only Silver but have had those seats on 7-8 trips in the last 4 months - all of a sudden my first trip after they started charging - gone. Not happy Jan.
That's really disappointing.

Re: QF selling more "extra legroom" Y seats - 80A/K,71D & Dom. Exit

Just checked my flight back to Melbourne from Perth Sunday and see that I have been bumped from my exit row - this lot of flights were booked early September and I had selected exit rows for all my flights - I lost my exit row 3 days out from my trip to Perth on 17th Nov and now 3 days out my return one has gone too.

Was it an equipment change? That is also another reason why you may not be in the exit seat.

Hang on... they're not charging on domestic are they? This seems like an unrelated issue

I would ring QF and tell them that you had selected the exit seat before the charging came in so could they put you back in it.

Just checked my Syd-HKG and saw that row 43 is now $$$'s (same as a standard exit row)... clicked skip skip pretty quickly on that one.. on the plus side, perhaps my shadow will remain :-)

On the other hand, row 32 upper deck A380 bulkhead economy is still free of charge!

Re: QF selling more "extra legroom" Y seats - 80A/K,71D & Dom. Exit

32 is hardly an extra legroom seat. I give it a month before QF starts charging!

I can't figure out what's going on with row 23 dom. A few weeks ago, I had a consultancy in Qld lob onto my lap out of the blue and I'm heading PER-BNE on Sunday and then flitting about up and down the Qld coast over the following few days before returning home later next week.

Client's travel agent booked the flights (in whY :( - thought I might be stretching things to ask for J as it's a gov't-like organisation) so I grabbed 25A as best available. Checked this morning and 23A was now vacant, so I moved to that - without charge. Strangely my EF seat request hadn't picked it up - unless I just happened to chance on it very soon after it opened up and beat EF to the punch.

Have I missed something, because I thought 23A was now under the chargeable umbrella . Or does WP save me in this instance (I didn't think it would from my cursory examination of these changes).

Anyway, it's all a bit academic now as my UPG request came through this afternoon :D. Now sweating on the same for the return next week :-|. It's been a very loooonnnng time since I travelled E-W in whY (shudder).

I thought it was exit row only for domestic coast to coast flights.

I thought it was exit row only for domestic coast to coast flights.

But when I selected 23A, it said it was an exit row and asked if I was up to the requirements.

Perhaps the $$ rules are relaxed at T-80?

Re: QF selling more "extra legroom" Y seats - 80A/K,71D & Dom. Exit

Well well, I sent a somewhat snarky message to Qantas on Bookface and I just checked my booking and I now am in 45J (paid) extra legroom seat.

Wonders will never cease, but still a little suspect as to why it happened, and also why when I had no allocation 45J wasn't available to select either, even by stumping up the cash.

You should be OK for SYD-HKG.

Try SYD-BKK. I am panicking. Hope there isn't a scheduled change of aircraft and I lose 23J.

They've charged the fee to the original payment method?

There was no suggestion of a charge and a 'would I like to proceed' step, so I assumed no fee was involved.

The fact that I then got a UPG rendered it all academic, but IIRC there was mention upthread about what would happen under such a circumstance and I think the conclusion was that you'd do your $25 (or whatever the charge was).

If you guys who are on the dom birds so much more frequently than me are struggling with this, no wonder I'm confused!
