Called Qantas, told me I can't take them because they are 'normally' reserved for special needs.
Indeed! 'Special needs' platinums who are [conveniently] incapable of working out when to go to the toilet and find themselves having to use the front WC rather than the one down the back!
It's only a matter of time before that happens.Just tried to choose row 4 on a 737 CBR - MEL, only one seat in row 4 is occupied, but errors when I try to pick the empty ones.

Flight is tommorrow....
Never heard that one before, maybe next step is to charge for them.

These are bulkhead seats but not classed as extra legroom seats?
Interesting. Isn't Qantas charging for row 23 on the A330's? Another of those inconsistencies. These have less space than row 43 on the refurbed 747... so I would hope not.
My QF4 (HNL - SYD) flight later this year has seats 23 A,B,D,E J & K blocked - QF P1 desk advise that it is because of the bassinets - I can purchase 23F,G for $180 or wait till T-24 for blocked seats to maybe available.Interesting. I'm confused? I thought all exit row and extra legroom seats were free for QF P1.My QF4 (HNL - SYD) flight later this year has seats 23 A,B,D,E J & K blocked - QF P1 desk advise that it is because of the bassinets - I can purchase 23F,G for $180 or wait till T-24 for blocked seats to maybe available.

Complimentary exit row seating
You enjoy complimentary Exit Row Seating†, where available, on selected Qantas operated International flights (flight numbers QF1-QF199). Exit Row Seating can be requested via our Priority Telephone Service up until three hours before your scheduled departure time, and Platinum One members will not pay the fee that would normally apply.
No as far as I am aware they are not charging for row 23. At least not on the 332. I flew PER-MEL on 10 Feb and row 23 was blocked to me until T-24 and then I was able to select 23A free of charge.
Which airline allows you to choose bulkhead/exit rows for free without status or paying for the privilege?I've pretty much moved to another airline where I still get to choose these seats for free (well the ones that actually do have extra leg room) when I book. Even their regular Y seats have better pitch than QF. Got a couple of A380 flights in the trapdoor seat coming up. Also get exit rows just for asking (I'm tall), like I used to with QF.
