QF9 / QF10 Perth

What's even worse about heading east to connect is the options are either a ridiculously early PER departure or a red eye. Then you have to deal with the disaster that is the SYD domestic to international transfer. Using east coast logic, QF really should have an international tag leg from PER to SYD with international service that takes you straight to the international terminal. :rolleyes:
MEL also have flights to NZ...

Just not MH/MAS if earning QFF (edit: to add SC) is important to you, esp if flying in a prem cabin and only earning QFF in flexY esp if in a rev booking.
If a rew booking, then maybe MH/MAS is ok burning QFF points from PER to KUL to LHR.

The 787 will continue to fly between Melbourne and Perth, albeit only on Thursdays operating as QF773.

Also, I think it would be good if Qantas brings forward the arrival times of its Canberra-Perth service into PER. The current CBR-PER flight arrives after the departures of the LHR and CDG services, so that’s clearly not ideal. This could and should be easily fixed by bringing QF857’s arrival times forward and offering a truly one-stop connection for Canberrans travelling to Europe.
 
It’s probably a bonus if you don’t have to fly on a 787…but not so if you have to fly on a 737.

My choices, 380, then 350, then 777. After that 330 or drive.
JB is this related to Boeing's current issues and/or fundamental concerns with the 787 design? i.e. the "box" around the battery?

I do wonder how many other short sighted design decisions Boeing made with the 787!

A search will find many ‘whistleblower’ reports about the 787. But, as I see it, nothing they’ve done since around 2007 (or so) is built or designed to the same standard as the entire 7x7 series that made them so successful. I have friends who have flown both the 777 and 787 and their preference, to a man, is the 777. A much older design, but from the old company. Is that likely to be an issue on your flight…probably not. But, it really annoys me when I hear people calling it the Dreamliner, when it’s only an accountant’s dream.

Yep - by now everyone's heard the line about engineers vs accountants at Boeing.

Having previous lives in both flying and within the "millitary industrial complex" I have to keep my mouth firmly shut on the details, but more will keep coming to light thanks to Boeing's recent attitude and behaviour... a lot more!

That said, I'd rather fly any rubbish new Boeing than on an alternative platform that required transiting places like IST (made worse in the case of airlines with ex-mil crew from certain nations!)

BTW: Almost forgot my usual QF line ... "Qantas: the National Airline of Sydney"

Sadly I don't disagree with jb's assessment, though have a 787 flight in a few days. Back in the 90s I was offered a job by Boeing in Seattle which was amazing but in the end I decined for my own reasons, but at that point it was not about concerns of the engineering or build of the aircraft they were putting out.
 
PER to ADL, if its that one, yes, not that many flights a day.
5.55pm or so, to get to ADL at near 10.30pm.
Even to SYD/MEL, its not that regular.
Nothing can be done, but just hope that the 4 hr wait does eventuate, and you do get a seat on the replacement.
I live in ADL, and know that QFd PER - ADL is not that regular, ie, not every 2/2.5 hrs apart.
