QFF Bonus Status Credits/Points gift on back of Aug 2023 profit

How can this BS marketing exercise garner 200+ posts in one day?
1,000 points redeems for me at ~$12-15. I might get a better return for my time elsewhere.
Yeah, nah
So you won't be taking them then?

Wife and I both 75/5000 with 24,862 kms. Both chose the 5000. QF Gold with a March anniversary, however made the decision to not chase QF status earlier this year and happy to slip to silver and (probably) eventually bronze. Would have retained if we hadn't flown with the competition for the past 5 months but TBH it's great not being handcuffed and selecting flights purely on times and price.
Great decision. But I am handcuffed to Qantas as its the only way I can get access to lounges and some other perks.

I will be offered 1,000 points worth about $10 maybe if I can get a flight that I want, and if I spend how long downloading an ap I dont want and then spend how long in the claim process. That values my time at perhaps $20 per hour compared with Joyce's salary of how many $1,000 per hour? More great Qantas generosity. No wonder Rex looks so good for those interstate trips.

App takes less than a minute to d9wnload, claiming the points or SCs about 5 secs. But I'm sure QF won't care if many don't take up the offer.

How much is a toasted sanga and sitting in the QF club really worth? We came to the realisation we usually go to the airport later so we don’t have to be in the lounge and when we are, it’s just, well, mediocre. Of course there are times between flights but we also have PP membership that we use for dining credits. For international we fly business so lounge access not an issue. The other perks like priority phone service and boarding are hit and miss so not really fussed.

I am pleased to say I am not contributing to “if everyone has status, nobody has status”, and I send my well wishes to all QF status holders!

The new app isn't available on my phone, so I used a friend's phone.
(The old app still works fine, except for not offering the gift.)

I don't understand what the issue is.
Don't download the app and don't get the points or credits, like the company cares.
Claim process? Literally pressing a few buttons.
Downloading apps doesn't take long. Maybe less than 20 seconds.
Don't know what Rex has got to do with anything.

Probably just a capability gap, most apps especially airline apps are under funded and just rubbish. Just see Bonza, when they try to load multiple new routes at once, you need to update the app. Jetstar kicks you to its browser.

The American carriers do apps very well.
I like that on American Airlines, you can track your luggage in their app.

Fitstly, I suspect that I've met the T's and C's? 😄

Secondly, the memes are already hitting the youtubes!

How funny!

Methinks there are a lot of people in this world that have an ax to grind with QF, for so many reasons

Don’t expect any further “status keeper” beyond what’s in play now.

I feel like this is another attempt to get more status holders over the line to keep the golden handcuffs on. Given the very poor recovery of international travel, I suspect they've run the numbers and there is a very high number of people who will lose status (particularly gold status where the drop is much harder). Additionally work travel domestically still seems somewhat reduced compared to 2019 from anecdotal observation and conversation.

I think we'll see some more limited status support like this in the guise of "thankyou's" and "sorry's" or whatever fig leaf they use over the next few months, particularly if international numbers don't rebound or if there is any drop off in domestic numbers due to the economy.
