QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Well done, when you say the outbounds were released by manual review , does this mean you initially did not get a decision by the bot and the requests were listed as "requested" on your Manage your Booking page and at a later date , the description was altered to "confirmed" or did you get an email or phone call telling you the good news ?
Yes to all - there were three options requested, all showed as requested, then one changed to Confirmed and I got an email a few hours later with the good news

The other thing to note about release requests is that there may also be other factors at work when assessments are being made. Eg I have heard that tge customers PCV, other release requests/history of requests - at least possibly approved ones - and so on can factor in to a yay or nay. Those factors being quite separate to a specific flight being considered.

No, I don't know this for certain, but have heard around the traps. Tbh it makes some sense too.

Business Sale fare showing on the website is not always needed, but does indicate I class availability. ExpertFlyer
Yeah this was silly of me not to use expertflyer whilst I was getting these checked with them 😅

It's the same bot assessing the request so there's no difference there, but the chance of the request being set up incorrectly (and therefore not being processed) by Cape Town or Fiji is much higher than if it were set up by Hobart or Auckland.
The guy that must be doing it definitely must be either Hobart or Auckland because he did his magic to try finding multiple "I" slots before requesting. He did mention that it shouldn't impact the chances of requesting the seats to the bot (like different ones), but alas not sure. Definitely used my good luck scoring the LHR to PER that close... could've waited to request the FCO-PER (or similar back to Aus) but alas want to enjoy my holiday instead of having to pick up the phone for a chance of getting a seat.

No luck SCL-SYD on 4th April despite business sale fare showing. Went to manual review and came back 2 minutes later with no luck.

Two minutes? Doesn't sound like a manual review to me.

Again though, existance of sale fares only indicates I availability - nothing more.

So it's likely the platinum operator just put me on hold and declined it without putting the request through?

They may have put the request to the computer and it came back with no.

Tried Y from LAX-SYD with Q9 and computer said no. Asked for a manual review..

PER-MEL-CBR returned in October for 2 U seats. Seemed to be from I for the PERMEL flights and D for the MELCBR (and return).

Lowly WP.
SCL-SYD mid-May 2025, 4 dates, 2 x J. Computer said no despite J sale on offer. (Luckily we had approved SYD-SCL in April 2025 last month)
LAX-SYD, LAX-MEL, DFW-SYD, DFW-MEL same dates, same pax. Computer said yes. All approved on request, not sure what the RRP fare bucket had in it.
