QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Hi all

Is there any trick to getting seats to SYD-SCL? Will WP release work for this route that seems to have none?
I'm SG, not WP again until July so I can't test.

thanks

In the past 15 or so months I've been successful in getting 2 x 2 return J seats released.

I'd say your chances are solid.

Denied requesting an F from Australia to Dubai on any one of three days in the week leading into Christmas with F4, A4. In the wait, my backup seat, which had been available, was made available to non-QF flyers overnight. And not it's gone. I did get a J seat on a domestic transcon though with I9.

That is really peak travel time though and U/Z goes pretty much as soon as it's released. I know as I did it last year.

I was after P, though.

There are two days with at least one P seat available on QF9 in the week leading into Christmas. And they've been there for several weeks. Until this week there was at least one seat on QF1 in the week leading into Christmas that, again, had been there for several weeks.

I requested for something similar as well, QF9 J on the 9th December. No U class available so requested for an award seat to be released. I was told that when U class is not available, they will make a decision base on the lowest J fare, I. I is showing 9 for the day on EF and had an outright rejection by the system. Requested this to be reviewed by the yield team and had the same answer.

Quick question on this as I've never done this before - does this work for domestic Y classic rewards (most of the examples seem to be international J)? If so, any tips when calling?

Thanks!

In the sense that you can ask and at worse they can say no, it pretty much 'works' for everything:-)

But yeah, I've had them open up CBR-SYD in Y as part of an international booking.

Yes I've had this for both domestic J and Y.

Thanks for your replies,I've put the request in and been told I'll hear back in 48 hours. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing (they haven't said no yet, I guess!) but it is for Easter flights so chances were probably slim to begin with.

Re: QFF Platinum and request release of extra Classic award seats

Hi all. WP hoping to get a J class award from anywhere in Australia to LHR in the last week of January/first week of February as part of OneWorld RTW itinerary. Can't find any options and wonder what the chances are of them releasing a seat on QF1 or 9 at that time?
Thanks!

It's a busy time of year so I'd say your chances are limited. It does however come down to the black art of yield management so who really knows.

Just keep looking and hopefully something will turn up.

Re: QFF Platinum and request release of extra Classic award seats

Hi guys not sure if this is the correct thread or not, but if i can see on Expert flyer 9 economy award seats (x) on a flight BNE to LAX but when trying to search as a bronze or Gold online it shows nothing (even tried calling up told no) would these be kept for WP?

What dates are you looking at?

As a WP all I can see is the following

Looks like the Award and Upgrade search on EF is broken - as it does indeed come back with the X9. The standard Flight Availability search doesn't show any X bucket availability.

For QF awards, I never bother with the Award search, as I find the the standard search shows the QF award buckets when available, and I prefer to see all the other buckets as well.

Re: QFF Platinum and request release of extra Classic award seats

Thanks Ansett, Expert Flyer getting my hopes up! I agree Equus expert flyer isn't generally very good fro QF awards as often under a Gold login i can see awards when it is showing none.
Back to waiting :-|

In addition to what straitman said this will only become even more difficult from late March next year once QF capacity to LHR is reduced. You can only get seats released for QF flights. If it's hard for the dates you want that are before that change it'll only become harder for similar dates in future years until/unless QF increases capacity again.
