QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Anyone had *any* joy getting F Classic Redemptions on QF1/2, and if so what were the circumstances (how far out for dep., call (auto or manual analyst intervention), if call HBA or JBG or SUV, etc? Tx.

Also had one F seat LHR-SYD QF2 release for 4th quarter this year, requested almost a year in advance.

Edit:

Having been WP for 10+ years, I had my first success today in getting a classic reward released when none were showing on the website. SYD ADL in J. The CSA told me which flight that day was most likely to give me a successful result, and it came through. A slightly later flight than I would have preferred but I'm not grumbling.

Cam to ask the same thing - Trying 2 x F on QF SYD-LHR for early May 2024 and despite zero tickets sold not having any luck.

Question, is it routine to be charged the 7700 assist fee when requesting a seat, not going to complain but probably wasn’t Hobart

What is your status level I am presuming Plat or above of so there should be no assistance fee.

But this was a release that one cant do online so fees dont applly based on my understanding experience as both a WP and P1. But i happy to be corrected.

You're correct that the assistance fee shouldn't apply, but it's not because of their status level, it's because the request can't be completed online.

PE successfully released on QF95/96 MEL-LAX return in Dec (after numerous rejections for F/J on various itineraries, despite plenty of sale dates showing on EF!).

Have 2 seats Mel/Lhr in Dec. First sector is domestic connecting to QF9 from Per. QF9 on the departure day now has FF seats Mel/Per - rang to see if I could get rid of the domestic connection and fly QF9 whole way and was told no as no FF seats appearing Mel/Lhr and no ability to request. Agent said only way would be to delete the first domestic sector and make a new booking on QF9 Mel/Per and then link the bookings - would get no refund on the deleted sector and need to pay the points Mel/Per as separate sector. Does that seem correct?

Sounds like married segments.
So, yes.

So after being QF WP continuously for about 15 yrs I made first attempt at seat release! and stats are 0 from 1….

Tried for 2x J QF41 SYD-CGK. There was plenty of whY classic rewards but J has been MIA for the June/July period months out.

Although I got straight through to Hobart, I was told that because “there are no J Sale fares on the date”, he couldn’t put in a request. Does that sound right?

I don’t have a paid EF account, but I thought the completely empty J cabin was a good start….

Apparently not…

Anyway, went ahead and booked the trip in whY (will probably request a classic upgrade, which will probably come through days out - sigh…).
Just noticed that QF released 2x U CR seats ~2 wks out for my flight and nothing in cooee for weeks either side 😡.

But at least I spotted them and have changed our booking. A little more net points (after change fee) and taxes than relying on a classic upgrade but we have that certainty now and 26 more SCs… Just need a last minute swap to an A332 for free wifi for half the trip…

First time requesting award seats release. Looking for early January 2024 from USA - AU. I had some options with various flights on 2 days, only one was available. So success,, will be flying 3xJ DFW-SYD-MEL. A day earlier than preference but as it is in school holidays, happy to have snagged anything.

Quick one.. what fare codes on expert flyer does everyone suggest I need to look out for? I’m Platinum looking to travel early Jan to London via almost any route 😂

I'd say Red-E-Deal fares, if you are looking to request a seat to be released.
