QF's Asia announcement

Though down the back I don't really see how much different sitting in a 737 or an A320 could be compared to a wide body. For example QF 737 is 3+3 and QF 747 3+4+3, provided the physical seats are the same, have the same pitch and the same IFE system is used how is it different? I guess our dislike comes from the fact that we associate narrow bodies with domestic and domestic product and wide bodies with international product.
Personally I think there is a difference and not just in the product.

I can sit in a 737 or A320 and see the back of the cabin or the front of the cabin depending on where one is sitting. Feels very claustrophobic. Tiny galley and 2 toilets to be shared between ~156 people.

On the wider bodies there are multiple galleys, more than 4 toilets for ~300 people, I can walk up, down, around and around and not really bother anyone. Feels and looks more comfortable.

I have done 4-5 hours in a 737 and I truly believe it is an aircraft that I would not want to spend more than 2-3 hours on a single flight.

How long till QF axe PVG, CGK and MNL? CGK and MNL are a less than daily frequency, whilst PVG using QF rationale could easily be served as part of a JV arrangement with MU for Chinese routes.

Actually I would be happy flying in seat 15D in Y on a JAL domestic 738 for maybe 6 hours-

Just off the phone to Qantas. My award flight MEL-SIN on 20/4 has just been changed (again). Originally was a 1530 departure on an A380 - changed to 1340 departure on B744. Now it's a 1000 departure (still on B744). It's really difficult for me to get to MEL in time, so I asked for anything later. Rep said no QF availability, but they expect to have FF arrangements sorted out with EK within a week, so I'll wait for a bit & see if the EK flight leaving at 1600 opens up.

The EK flight departs at 1800, not 1600.

QF changed my PER-HkG to go via SYD. They could reroute it via SIN - not sure why they dont do it first place. Who would agree to make a 7 hr trip into 17! Interestingly SQ and MH happens to put on sale for PER to HKG so I cancel QF ticket (refunded within 72 hrs) and bought a cheaper one elsewhere. Bye bye Qantas

Interestingly my parents were booked in Premium Economy SYD-FRA (classic reward booking) and have been offered Premium Economy on QF1 to DXB and then economy on EK from there. When it was pointed out that the website suggested that they would be offered Premium Economy to LHR and BA back to FRA from there ... there was some umming and aaaahing and then when the umms were filled with a 'also haven't we had points for premium economy deducted and you are putting us in normal economy for almost half the trip' there was a promise 'to look into it and get back to you'.

Please get back to us if you can with what QF do about this, I think there would be a few people who would be very interested to hear. Stick to your guns - your parents are entitled to PE quality flights from SYD-FRA with sensible connection times at the very least, some people would be argue that there is nothing to stop QF from upgrading your parents to J class in at least one or more legs if that is convenient and suitable to your parents, whether this is on QF EK or another carrier is Qantas's problem and it is up to them to suggest acceptable alternatives to the original flight.

Its just my opinion but the downgrade to EK Y class from DXB-FRA is simply not acceptable.

Maybe have a think about a plan B for getting from SYD-FRA just in case Qantas drag their feet or don't offer your parents an acceptable alternative.

Maybe because QF doesn't fly SIN-HKG... so they would have to pay for seats on other carriers, which is what they are trying to avoid.
They were offering more FF points as well.

Rerouting via SIN was one of the options Qantas provided, although they do seem to have gone via SYD by default.

If the seats were FF seats I was told via Sydney only. Having rung within an hour of the email arriving the QF Platinum desk wasn't ready for it (they asked me to forward the email to them) and rerouted my family and I via SIN (flying on ASA's Y up and J back). When I rang the next day trying for direct on CX they told me I shouldn't have been sent via SIN as all FF seats were to be routed via SYD but they'd honour my via SIN booking.

Interestingly the day after Virgin announced that al reward tickets would also earn points. Not exactly international related, but sure one big incentive to start booking, earning and redeeming DJ points!

My flight was changed from Per-Hk to Syd HK, then offered me Per-Sin on QF then Sin- HK on CX, hope i dont lose out on points.

Interestingly my revenue Y class DRW-FRA booking has been rebooked to QF codes on EK metal SIN-DXB-FRA with a 35 minute JQ to EK connection in SIN. Does anyone know where I can find the minimum connection times in Singapore? I can see why they have done this - because the other connections have long waits at either Singapore or Dubai. But 35 minutes is just a disaster waiting to happen - even if JQ is on time, all you need is to be sat in row 20something and have the EK flight leaving from a gate in a different pier and even Mr Bolt wouldn't make the connection. My luggage will surely not make it either.

I never thought that I would say this, but it is getting really hard to fly QF these days. They have cancelled a large number (10 or so) of my DRW-SYD saturday morning redeye booking and now this... I know that really I shouldn't complain as the population of DRW is about the same size as most local government areas of Sydney and Melbourne but it is all just a tad frustrating <rant over>

Isn't that only for a 6 month period only?

Those 6am services ADL-SYD are delayed by ATC more often than not. An hour is not unheard of, but is rare.

I've never been in the situation that I've missed the only connecting flight to my destination, so if my 6am ADL-SYD were delayed, causing me to not be able to make my SYD-BKK connection, would they stick me on the EK flight later that day (ughhh, arriving at 1:10 the following morning), or get me there some other convoluted way?
