QF's Asia announcement

Very disappointed about the lack of QF flights out of Perth. We have been using SQ more frequently in the past few years for our travel to Singapore. Will now probably use SQ exclusively to Asia and arrange credit cards accordingly. It is a crying shame about the demise (from Perth) of QF.

Are these (dis)enhancements confirmed? ...
I would suggest the schedules have not yet been updated.

If the ASX sourced document is insufficient as confirmation then red roo's post #32 should be.

Hi Princess Fiona,

No need to call us. We have started making calls to affected customers today so you should here from us sometime this week (or from your travel agent if you booked via one).

Cheers
Red Roo

Thankyou for the info :)

Extremely disappointed at the axing of QF 81/82.

Luckily MH J fares from ADL are about $2,200 each way. I know who's now getting my Asian business when my departure or arrival port is ADL. Hint - it's not QF/EK.

Looks like QF have not delivered on the "key benefit" of the relationship with EK, focusing on Asia. ADL cut, PER reduced, SYD-HKG reduced, no new cities and no commitment to A330 upgrades. An QF wonder why people don't trust their brand any more!

Well there is a small bit of compensation for those on the PER HKG services

To acknowledge the additional travel time on the reaccommodated services between Perth and Hong Kong (QF67 or QF68), Qantas Frequent Flyer members with existing commercial bookings , for travel from 31 March 2013, will receive an additional 8,000 points for each Economy sector and 12,000 for each Business sector that is reaccommodated.

Woopdty doo

Wow....... This is just awful, I am extremely disappointed. I'm flying PER HEL about once a month at the moment, and this is going to throw my current AY run into chaos.

As for HKG? Well, their timetable made QF67 useless anyway. So instead of making a commitment to PER and making it a daily service, they have just given up.

I feel sorry for ADL.... Though I'm sure many of you gave up on QF before they completely gave up on you.

Just had a look at my existing FRA-SIN-SYD booking for August but nothing yet, there are some good connections through DXB so quite happy to go on A380 MKII instead of MKI!

This really makes me rethink why i'm supporting QF. Only 1 QF a day to SIN from PER really is annoying as the late afternoon 3.45pm run was convenient so that you could still fit in number of hours of work before you went to the airport. Now you're forced to go on the midday flight, which is OK if its a leisure trip but useless for business. As for the axing of the PER-HKG flight that takes the cake. Time to switch over to SQ/VA at the end of this year for me. One international flight out of PER each day is pathetic. They just dont realise the knock on effects of the fact that if you travel business with QF internationally then you support it domestically. Taking away one means you lose business on the other. There is absolutely no enhancement (apart from bottom line) that i can see.

I see also dropping Premium Economy Melbourne to Singapore as well QF35/36.

Not sure what equipment will be in use for the Sydney flight but its possible Brisbane will have the only PE service to SIN.

This is a shame as well, I've always been a big fan of PE on QF for personal trips, but now I'll have to go Y. :(

Would be a good time for a status match from VA at the moment...they could pick up the bulk of the Perth and Adelaide market i'd think....:)

Interesting ... looks like they are doing the SYD flights first.

A work associate who I helped with an XASA MEL-xSYD-(QF127)-HKG late last year for April received an email today with a change booting him to the direct QF29 flight.

With this the notified scheduled arrival in HKG has changed from 5:30pm (QF127) to 9:00pm (QF29)- he was annoyed the much later arrival showing as it would muck up some plans he had for that evening.

I showed him the ASX .pdf and explained he will be moved again to a 5:10pm arrival and he is much happier.

Also qantas have published the information on their agents site: Latest Qantas News

I love this quote: "The maturing Jetstar network gives travellers another set of alternatives once they land in Asia."

I think not!

That's straight from the qantas media release. Quoted to Mr Hickey.
