I do need to ask how full the lounge was?In the BNE J Lounge this afternoon the wifi didn't connect straight away.
It was because there is no longer a 'Telstra' SSID it has changed to 'Qantas-Lounge'. There is a different Terms and Conditions page. Interestingly it references Optus several times. And doing some trace routes it looks like they have swapped over the Optus.
But most importantly the speed is amazingly fast. That is about the fastest I have seen it in any airline lounge anywhere. It is even faster than the improvement they made a month or so ago. Well done Qantas and Optus.

I do need to ask how full the lounge was?
Last Thursday when I was there the speed was great but as the lounge went from half full to quite full it slowed to a crawl.
MEL on Friday wasn't quite as fast. I was downloading a new large game for the iPad and at home (ADSL2+) it was grabbed in a few mins but the lounge wasn't able to supply in 30 mins...
What is it with pax downloading large files or bit-torrents?
Guess if it's for free, time to pig out?
If everyone kept to browsing web and e-mail, we'd ALL have lightning fast web in the lounges. This isn't restricted to QF Lounges here in Oz, but it seems that BA is having the same problem (from the FT BA threads I have read).
Seems like Tight-A$$-Charlie has turned up in Oz no doubt (free-loaders 101)........
And before anyone here has a go, think of your other pax. Slow it down for everyone, or keep the speed decent?

I was at MEL on Friday as well, the Wifi there was still on Telstra. Hopefully they'll switch to Optus soon.
Great speed and connection in the SYD F lounge on Sunday.
The souped-up wireless is already running in Qantas lounges at Sydney Airport T3 and Brisbane's International and Domestic airports ...
Adelaide will receive its upgrade "by the end of this week”.
... most capital cities by the end of December, and all other ports including regional ports by the end of April 2012.
