Well who ever is paying for it, the money QF is receiving from the sponsor is not being spent on the WiFi service. Just more Black ink for the accountant.
I doubt QF get anything from it, the sponsor money would go to Telstra to pay for the service

Pay for what service? Lounge WiFi that is useless? QF would make money, charging the sponsor more than they pay Telstra. For sure, for sure.

Simon, could you put an antenna on a nearby building and beam in a strong signal?

When first made complimentary 2-3 years ago (?) the wifi in the lounges was perfectly adequate.

Back than you basically required a Laptop to use it. The problem is that now most hand held can access WiFi and the loading is well beyond what it was designed for.

Go back to posts in 2004-2006 and see comments about the extremely slow internet on the actual lounge PC's. That was eventually fixed and I am pretty sure this situation will not last too much longer.

Worked this morning in BNE... eventually.

I'd saved that link from my attempts in SYD so used it to get on here. Through Google Chrome I got nothing but when I pasted it into IE it worked in the end.

Still rather slow as everyone observes.

I use my Telstra Mobile Broadband stick when at the airport during busy times....

If it is quiet in the lounge might use there WI FI.

Yes couldn't connect Friday in Perth. Sad because I really needed to on this occasion.

/QP overhead announcement on/

Paging Redroo, please see staff at the service desk.....

"Enjoy the journey" as you won't be enjoying the free wireless (despite the little paper cards on the bench) .....

Not much point in wireless access in the domestic lounges. It eats into the queuing time need for boarding at one's convenience. :p

Was not working in Brisbane on Friday afternoon.
Not working in BNE Saturday afternoon either. Wifi connection performance seems to fall in to 4 categories 1. Very slow to login, fast/medium speed to use once logged in 2. Very slow to login, slow to use once logged in (so slow it is unusable) 3. Cannot login or it loops back to login page 4. Fast to login, fast to use (very rare) And it seems to be consistently bad across the Australia. I would think that Qantas and Telstra would not want their names associated with such a bad service. Surprising they don't fix it.

I actually inquired at the service desk in the QF J lounge and was told they had been experiencing problems "for quite a while" and the issue had been reported several times.

Cannot understand the logic on why they have not resolved this problem.

What is hard to understand? QF do not seem to care or if they do care, they don't seem to want to admit they have an issue and are working to fix it. For me, my BB tethers to my laptop and so I have learned to overcome the problem.

I have a Telstra Mobile broadband internet stick so i use that in QP's and J lounges anyway.

It is quicker and also more reliable as well.

Most people who travel for business would have a way to access internet when out of the office.

Yes, and rather handily it can be used to access the internet whilst queuing in the "board at your convenience" lane along with non status pax. :p

Out of action in Adelaide tonight. Half an hour of looping through the login page and three pinots later..............
