I've been inspired by this thread to finalise my application, $5 a month ain't too bad.

Any indication if we need to stay with the policy for a certain amount of time?

The t&c's stated that it was take a few weeks after the first premium was charged.

For those who have had the points posted, have you already paid the first premium? Or were the points posted during the complimentary first month free?

It posted at the same time as the first premium was charged - literally the same day for me.

I haven't cancelled yet, but I intend to tomorrow. Interestingly enough, I will still be within the cooling off period - bit cheeky but I think I'll get my premium back too!!

The reason it's possible to cancel within the cooling off period, even though the first premium was charged (and the points came) exactly 30 days in is that the policy document allows for 30 days + 5 days for delivery of the document.

There's a slight possibility the bonus points will be cancelled, but I'm willing to take a gamble, want to cancel soon so I don't forget anyway.

Robbegong I think your gamble isn't clever. If they reverse the transaction on your card there is every chance the bonus disappears too. All points posted on the one line in my statement. If you value MR at 2cpp, you are betting $100 stake against a $5 pot. Your call, but I don't think it's clever.

True, was thinking this too actually.. My intention wasn't really to save the $5, more just noting a by-product of what would happen. I might intentionally wait until after the cooling off period to cancel for this reason though.

Life or death? My life quote is 34.90 a month. I assume you also get the bonus points for funeral cover

Used wifes DJ Amex card to buy her a policy and my supp DJ Amex on her account to buy me a policy.... the 5k bonus points posted with the first charge they made for her account/charge but not mine.

I guess they don't give bonus points to the supp card holder, no big deal can't be bothered fighting it, will just cancel both.... Still got 5k points for ~$10-$15

Ferni Thanks for clarifying this. I was thinking about trying for multiple policies on the one card but won't now.

How are people cancelling their policies? The PDS says policies must be cancelled in writing; is there a specific mailing address? Or can I cancel by phone?

I'm interested too. My calendar item reminding me to cancel is approaching.

+1, has anyone gone about cancelling? Any risk of having the points deducted from you (seems unlikely)?

I used up the points (transferred them to SPG) and then cancelled the card lol. So no technically I didn't cancel but I receive an email from them saying 'payment declined'. I'll simply ignore it.

Yes, I have cancelled my policy - just sent a very brief letter by fax (email would work too) to the number for Zurich Insurance listed on the product schedule. Got a letter about a week or two later confirming cancellation. If you state in the letter that the cancellation is to be effective immediately then IMO you should not be charged any further premiums from that point.

thanks for that info, any impact on the 5k bonus points as of yet?

No issues with point reversal, not expecting any either as I've complied with all the T & C and there was no minimum maintenance period. I did ensure I cancelled after the cooling off period though so that the transaction generating the bonus points wasn't refunded.

Wish I saw this last month! Will look into it (contact them in regards to points if applying now.)
