Record for most SCs in a year

I remember my worst year was 2395 SC's, half was a F RTW and the rest was discount economy or K class economy around Australia. I vowed not to travel that much again. I then met my wife, so that put paid to my travel :p

I like playing with my kids on the weekend, jumping on the trampoline and playing with them in their play room. Nothing more satisfying than tiring them out and watching/hearing them sleep after a busy day :D

Damn, I miss them after bring away for a night. Don't know how some of you juggle the home/work travel conundrum

Actually, I wonder how many SC's bossreggie has done in the past 12 months?

I know he's done a few return F's to LON in recent times, so would have a reasonable balance I'd imagine.

I did 2 years back to back of 4400 SC's per year. Lately I have been doing between 2400 and 2800 SC's per year, because I have pushed premium seat business to *A to acheive *G with NZ, and have pushed premium business to DJ to acheive DJG

*G will be too hard for me to keep with my flight destinations and preferred timing (i.e. will not catch PER-AKL due to the arrival time)

Currently LTSC's are in excess of 24000, of which nearly all were earned post Ansett going belly up.

Last year I managed a total of 1750 SC's with QF flying -Y, which if flown J would equal 7000 SC's.

This year already up to 1280 SC's (all -Y) and have only completed 5 months of my QFF year....

Time to hit your employer up for better working conditions ;)

Frantic125 can you get to pay the business BAS occasionally to do "moving forward" as Julia would call it?

@ 6 times the price!!

I think the most SCs I have had in a year was 1400 SCs and it felt like it was a lot of flying.

Generally I am content in achieving Platinum status and have no great desire to do more flying. See what the new year brings....

So after months of denials, JohnK finally concedes he flies "just" enough to get and maintain WP.

"just enough"..??.??

If you're WP - you're WP.... Period.

You've flown enough to attain/retain the benefits and status level (which is twice the requirement of SG).

If you have met the requirement - then you have every entitlement to expect to receive the benefits of that level and to critique the service if it fails to meet the expectations.

Play the ball and not the man chap!

JohnK's "just" enough flying to maintain flying is pretty much weekly flying.. Just in case you thought otherwise.

I don't know him or his flying patterns so won't comment about his situation, but is it? really?

1 RTW F booking will get you there, 2 very decent AA YUPPS will get you there (including the trip to the US), 3-4 LHR J trips will get you there as will the odd NAN status run or HKG double SC run.

So yes, I do think otherwise.
WP status is not as difficult to get as some people would like to think it is.

1. No one suggested otherwise....

2. see above

3. see above.

I find it improbable that an individual can so finely tune their travel arrangements, year after year after year to gain WP and nothing more. Those that do, are IMO doing it with the sole intention of retaining WP. Despite me questioning the rationality of being so desperate for an airline status, there is nothing inherently wrong with SC chasing.

The thing that irks me is that it seems the members that do status chase are the the ones with the greatest sense of (false) entitlement and are most vocal about not getting what they are 'entitled' to. I suspect this may stem from the fact that they honestly believe they have 'worked harder' for it than anyone else, and in a way I suppose they have given that they flew more sectors/flights just to hit the magic 1200/1400 number.
What I find distasteful is the 'I am WP, and therefore more important than you, and I DESERVE row 4 seating over some random no status pregnant woman' attitude.
A little unbecoming wouldn't you say?

You can of course reach premium status very easily if you are flying premium cabins long haul..... Which means:

1/ You have spent real $$ of your own with the airline - and hell.... If you're spending that much of your hard earned - you've earned the status.

2/ You're lucky enough to have someone else paying for you to travel long haul in premium cabins.... Lucky you :)

In any event - if you've met the requirements, you've met the requirements!

Your argument doesn't change the basic fact.

Wilco you did comment so I was setting you straight. I've known JohnK for a number of years and I know his flying patterns.

Yes you can get platinum with any of the above, and you can get it by flying weekly on the golden triangle too. And it may not be "difficult" but it isn't easy either.

That would be Qantas marketing ...

As for JK, he commutes each way between SYD & BNE, ~45 weeks a year and travels to Asia for holidays. There's the "just enough" 1200 SC's from 100 or so flights.

It's not hard to track JohnKs flights, just look for a delayed BNE to SYD flight on a Friday and the reverse Sunday evening, and if the dollar is dropping he is heading OS in Y!
