Record for most SCs in a year

Decent (not great) AA YUPP fares could get you 420SC for about $900each, so fly 3 of them and you'd be sitting on 1260Sc for $2700. Add a $1000 OZ-US special (120SC) and your almost there for $3700. Add a $59 LST (ex Mel) red e deal and voila... WP for $3820. Of course if you put some effort into it, you could find better YUPP fares and bring the total down a bit. Im not saying this is how everyone does it, but the possibility exists that a WP could spend less $$ than a PS. So at the end of the day WP aint that hard, expensive or special, and those that are WP and think their %$#& don't stink really need a reality check or an understanding that no one else cares.

Back on topic - I'm interested to see the largest SC tally by self-funded travellers?

(not to get into the argument of self vs employer funded)...... Just I think that it's pretty easy to rack up the SCs when someone else is paying for premium cabin travel.

It may be more interesting to see those who self-fund - what sort of earn they have and what sort of travel they use it for.......

(Bossreggie is obviously on that list ;))

There is a big difference. Despite having said that WP status is the same regardless of how it is achieved, until recently Qantas seemed to have no (public) way of determining a passengers value. Now it has and its called P1. Prior to that, we have speculated (and I'm pretty certain) Qantas did put a "value" on its passengers over and above their "status" so that not all WP's were created equal.

You are all supposed to be mature adults and yet you have nothing better to do with your lives than to chase some airline status and boast to your mates how important you are and always get to fly row 4 and somehow I'm the one that should go to the disney website? I think thats more up your alley......

:shock: That is an awful lot of time spent in the air. If it is mostly with QF I hope they look after you. I'm at 2420 after five months and if my travel goes as planned should break 5000 SC's* this year of which 3600 will be QF.......and that is way too much travel for me. :( (I nearly forgot I'll have 1000 SC's on VA too!)

Off topic but I am an advocate of QF upping the number of SC's earned on QF metal for SG/WP qualification. (I think the 2700 SC's on QF metal WP1 requirement is right.........unfortunately the poor WP1 offering from QF makes a nonsense of it.)

If you have the "right" travel patterns achieving WP status is easy. (By right I mean international travel and in Y+, J or F, or J travel in Australia.) Maintaining WP status is a fair old slog if you are flying discount Y in Australia.

I got about 1800 last year and nearly all of that was in y class.

There was some weeks where there was 8 flights due to work reasons where it could have been condendesed but I wanted to spend time with my family.

I flew home from TSV friday night then flew back up Saturday afternoon for a dinner with a customer.

Extra SC's don't care but time with family do care.
 
YTD travel has me at 2500 SC, which is my highest ever year.

For my QF year which is April-March I am sitting at 2260 and will have no trouble getting to Partner Gold within the next month or so.

Last year was a bit less than the year before. Started well this year. With my flight to LHR this evening, I will be just over 5,000 with my year starting on Sept 1st. I don't know if I will end up with 15,000 for the whole year, but we will see.

To be fair I'm thinking of using EK Trans-Tasman once they have the A380 flying. I am a little over the F Lounge now. It's still great...... But if you use it 30+ times a year it loses it's wow factor.

Fair comment however when you start using a lesser lounge you may have withdrawal symptoms. Does CL get you anytime access to the F Lounge?

Yes. I have used it once when I had to fly THAI to BKK and my passport was going to be within 6 months of expiry. I didn't have time to get my UK passport from home. So I switched to THAI and was still able to use Qantas F Lounge with 3 guests.

There certainly will be higher totals out there than mine - 2380 last year, all self-funded leisure flying (and that's likely to be the only way I get 'em). That was unusually high for me.
 
I don't know how you can get Platinum for a few grand? Are you speaking about Any Seat Award tickets?
In theory, you can get to WP (or any level) for free if you have enough QFF points and only buy ASA tickets using points only...

b. self-funded or company paid. I'm a shareholder in my company and all my travel is for work. I stay home for holidays and I give away my points.
c. Just over 8,000 SCs were on QF metal / QF tickets this year. Higher this year because I was testing a theory (on unpublished benefits) which proved false. Maybe next year will see if EK will offer IO. Although P1 as published is disappointing, they have come through on all of my "special" requests.
d. All long-haul flights in J. Most short-haul flights in Y.
e. I like the comparisons I've read "if I was flying in x class I would have y SCs". Well, if I flew in F class I would have 16k SCs. If I only flew in Y class I would have about 6k. If all of my flights were on OW in the class I flew, I would easily have over 14k.

Some stats for anyone interested:

Based on that amount of flying I can't imagine those stats would have been compiled anywhere other than on an aircraft or in a Lounge.

Jobu - all I can say is that I understand perfectly why you would want to spend holidays at home :)

Out of interest - do you mind sharing why so many airlines are in the mix?

Was it because OW doesn't cater to your destination needs? Maintaining status in *A as well? Or just curiosity?


IMHO - LHR and LAX are airports that anymore than 1 annual stop in are too many ;)

Whilst the amount of flying you do is very impressive......... I'm even more impressed by the fact you have all those details!!

I am in HKG now on my way to LHR with my son for New Years and I can tell you that this is my 13th trip to LHR in 2011. All in F and all self funded.

I could not recall all my stats like you can. Do you use some type of software to keep track?

I am ALSO going to fly EK a bit more in 2012. Especially once we have an A380 ex MEL. EK's F hard product is IMHO superior to that of Qantas.
