Regional Express Delays/Cancellations

Thank you jb747: it's not exactly warm or calm in Melbourne either.

And your point in that comment was what? The weather in Albury this afternoon was such that if it had been at a major airport, and I'd been operating a big jet, I would have waited it out. If REX elected to do that, then it was sensible.

Oddly in the opposite direction, ZL781, the 1645 SYD - ABX took off at 1655 and with VH-ZXK is approximately nine minutes late, being due at 1819. So (touch wood) not every flight into or out of ABX is significantly delayed.

Not at all odd. The weather in Melbourne was such that departures were not significantly affected. The departing REX flight would have had the appropriate fuel for the flight. You depart on time. The weather may, or may not, affect your arrival.

I was merely making a remark about how chilly (and earlier, windy) it was down south. I wasn't questioning or criticising anything Regional Express did. All I described was that a flight was delayed, which is what this thread is about.

The flight departure to which I referred was from Sydney, not Melbourne. Apologies for using the word 'oddly'.

ZL3684, the 1825 hours early evening flight from MEL to MQL took off at 2026. Arrival of SAAB 340B VH-ZLQ is expected at about 2123, 98 minutes late.

On Wednesday 13 July, ZL767 from SYD to the 'Twin Cities' should arrive ABX at about 1054, 94 minutes late. It is the 0755 departure that was not airborne until 0917. VH-RXX is the usual SAAB 340B.

Later on Wednesday 13 July, a day with a prevailing westerly wind for the majority of the day (as well as being very chilly in SYD and MEL), VH-ZLC on the 1855 hours SYD - GFF is still taxiing as at 2014, preparatory to takeoff.

Friday 15 July's ZL3286, the 1835 hours from MEL to WGA took off at a late 1952 hours. It should arrive at about 2039, 54 minutes late with SAAB 340B VH-TRX.

On Monday 18 July, presumably due to delays from the early morning fog in SYD, ZL467, the 1000 SYD - GFF (SAAB 340B VH-ZLR) took off at 1235, about two and a quarter hours late.

I never take the 10am service its always late.
The best one was on the early morning but it was cancelled/delayed so transferred to the 10am with the boss. Sat at GFF with no coffee (the cart had gone). Decided to move to the lunchtime and paid the change fee. Only to have that one cancelled and the boss took off at 2pm flight and I went back to the office...

ZL211, the Monday 25 July 0630 hours BNK down to SYD has had a delayed start to its morning with take off at 0836. Arrival of SAAB 340B VH-ZRJ should be about 124 minutes late at 1024.

ZL3257, the 0645 hours WGA - MEL on Wednesday 27 July (SAAB 340B VH-EKD) took off at 0702 which is not very late, but despite that it has been delayed with arrival set for about 0830, half an hour behind schedule.

An inclement start to the Monday 1 August MEL day has seen ZL3752, the 0630 hours MGB to MEL taking off at 0707 but then being placed in a lengthy hold with arrival likely at 0851, 46 minutes late. Aircraft is SAAB 340B VH-ZRM.

ZL161, the 0630 hours Wednesday 3 August OAG - SYD short hop did not take off until 0723, with resultant arrival of VH-ZLG (SAAB 340B) at 0817 hours being 57 minutes late. Fog?

The Thursday 4 August 2016 ZL852 (0645 hours SYD to DBO) took off at 0653 but appears to have decided at about Stuart Town to return to SYD - fog at DBO maybe - and should touch down at about 0822, so passengers will presumably be hours late arriving in the western NSW city. VH-ZXF is the SAAB 340B.

Wednesday 10 August 2016 sees ZL333 (1655 hours late afternoon GFN down to SYD, SAAB 340B VH-RXN) likely to arrive about 31 minutes behind time at 1856.

ZL3281, the 1545 hours Thursday 18 August 2016 WGA down to MEL did not take off until 1800 so arrival is suggested as 1851, 51 minutes late. Aircraft is SAAB340B VH-ZRL.

Friday 19 August saw ZL3557, the 0845 hours MEL - BWT not in the air until 0946 so unless it can be the proverbial magic carpet, it will arrive at about 1034, 39 late. SAAB 340B VH-KDQ has the task.

On Sunday 9 October, ZL3557, the 0845 from MEL down to BWT did not take off until 0938. Aircraft is SAAB 340B VH-EKH; it should arrive at roughly 1026, 31 minutes behind the schedule.

The 1020 from MQL down to MEL, ZL3657 (SAAB 340B VH-TRX) took off at 1049 but the winds are heavily gusting in MEL (as predicted yesterday by the BOM) so this flight, due to arrive at 1140, remains in a holding pattern south of MEL at 1207.

ZL3662 (1125 MEL up to MQL) did not take off until 1248 and hence arrival is unlikely prior to 1346, which would be 61 minutes tardy. Aircraft is VH-SBA.

VH-EKD on ZL3561, the 1230 MEL - BWT was airborne at 1313 and should be on the tarmac disgorging passengers at 1418, 38 minutes late. Not a good day for punctual arrivals in this Tasmanian town.

ZL166, the Monday 10 October 0840 hours from SYD to OAG did not take off until 1001.

SAAB 340B VH-RXE should arrive at around 1046, 76 minutes tardy.

During the mid afternoon of Monday 10 October 2016, most flights at SYD are using runway 25.

ZL469, the 1410 hours SYD - NRA (SAAB 340B VH-NRX) has yet to take off as at 1444.

Friday 14 October sees ZL953, the 0630 hours from ARM down to SYD not having been airborne until 0757. Arrival of SAAB 340B VH-RXS should be at approximately 0914, 89 minutes behind time.

The much shorter flight sector of NTL - SYD is teh task of ZL353 (VH-YRX) but it is running quite late with SYD arrival suggested as 0933 by FR24, but it appears to be only a small number of minutes behind ZL953 so it may arrive a bit earlier. The schedule calls for an 0810 hours arrival.

The 0755 hours Thursday 20 October ZL767 SYD to ABX (SAAB 340B VH-ZLO) took off at 0836 and should arrive at about 0950, half an hour behind schedule.
