RewardPay Alternatives

There is no cap for the dragon.... if that's your Q. If its related to some sort of EBP cap - I'm not sure. I've put through >$120k on ANZ black in the past week as they have a current 1p/$ uncapped bonus. No issue with EBP so far, I'm about to purchase a Hilux via EBP as the dealer wants a 1.2% fee.
Has the 1 pt / $ uncapped bonus happened before - I had ANZ black before (non-QF version) and don't recall it happening?

First time here, but a scan on the ANZ thread indicates it's not a one off ..... maybe a new trend to retain card holders. The offer is 1P/$ uncapped lasting around 6 weeks.

Hmmm - interesting - not sure if it would've stopped me cancelling the card, but if it happens often enough, it changes the card's value equation

The card was going to get the scissor work the week the letter arrived.... happy to hang on to it for another year due to the 6 week bonus bonanza as I'm planning to put through quite a few more multi 6 figure sums .... plus we'll get a get a couple more QF lounge passes :p Friends and family love those.

If they dangle another bonus offer between now and next July - I'll keep it. It's actual the wife's card, my 12 month sin-bin is about to expire so I'll sign back up and see what happens.

I see. So if you can claim GST on BAS statements, then EBP is slightly cheaper, otherwise go straight Dragon -> ATO
That may be true, but there are other benefits of using EBP. Suppliers that take only EFT, Bpay, and transactions that you want to hide off your bank statement
Also, not everyone has a large tax bill, mine is tiny, almost negative being a manufacturer of gst free goods.

I'm staying well away from bank to bank transactions. IMO that's cruising for one hell of a bruising.

Yeah reconciling it is annoying, but not so bad when only have a few suppliers, unless people are using it for everyday expenses, that is nuts, or with smoothing activated.
1 bill, 1 EBP transaction, otherwise you'll never reconcile

Yep reconciling ebp is a pain in the proverbial

The question isn't whether ebp is useful, that is without debate. The issue is whether that particularly pairing is a good one and from a number of different viewpoints and responses the answer could be summarised as: for some yes, for many, no. The many part there is where you have a preferred loyalty program that doesn't require conversion via dragon at what is a lower rate than some other products (however you may value those converted points as higher than the direct loyalty programs and nobody can dispute that, for simplicity's sake in this response every program is valued at 1:1 to make the comparison easier).

But that's an argument about which card you want to use, not specific to EBP / Rewardpay / B2Bpay / purchasing giftcards / card direct to vendor etc and I guess everyone has to set their own rates they're willing to pay, and on what they have access to to use

The first $1000 per month on EBP is fee-free. So this will influence it's effective cost.

I may have not correctly followed the last part of this thread, but specific card utilised is often directly linked to EBP / RP / B2B --- ie, it's effectively a 'pairing' to generate max points at min cost

Anyone had this come up on the credit card account when paying something with EBP, “uncategorised bpay payment”?

On the paying credit card? No.

On the recipient end? Yes.

Easybillpay seems to be a bit slower than usual at processing top ups and payments for me this week. Unfortunately I've left a few things to the last minute, so hopefully it all works out and everything returns to normal soon.

The notation, 'unspecified B pay payment' was on the recipient card as you said.
