Rewards seats changed from QR to QF without approval and from J to Y

Lo and behold I have now lost flight 2 because flight 1 is taking so long to be reinstated. At this point I just want to buy a paid ticket and give all my points away. They're effectively useless if you can't even get a flight ticketed using them.

Please can I have your points :)

Are the issues confined to you making changes or if the airline changes a flight time it is also happening?
Problems arise if the ticket needs to be reissued… ie a whole new ticket. In this case the ‘payment’ isn’t complete and partner airlines can cancel the booking.

Flight time changes should be a revalidation… so the ticket stays valid, just ‘updated’ with the new times.

Just found a Qantas award to Delhi instead and booked a sale business fare on Lufthansa to Dublin from Delhi. Qantas cost me $1k/2k but pay no consequences for it. Will never pay or accumulate any Qantas points ever again. If I am flying domestic I hope to go Virgin even if my company tries to force me to fly Qantas.

On another note - I have a 5 hour layover in Delhi with different tickets. Assuming I have to pick up my bags and re-check onto Lufthansa however wondering if this involves entering India and if I need to do anything before arriving there?

Unless someone tells you otherwise, you would need an Indian visa to board the QF flight. Transit visas are cheaper than tourist visas but they are typically issued two to three days before travel which is very uncomfortable. You can get an e-tourist visa that is valid for 12 months - it is more expensive but less stressy. Set low expectations for the lounges in DEL and then lower them a bit further.

I rebooked to Delhi as well. The Emirates to LHR first class (was cheaper than Business on points) then into JFK on BA

Even if you transit for under 24hours with onward ticket?

I checked on the website that Qantas provides and it says no visa required

My flights Tuesday morning and I’m not even sure I can get a visa in time

Maybe it would be helpful to put a link to that site - this is something we are all learning together.

I am no seriously rethinking booking partner awards now. What was once a good frequent flyer program seems almost unusable in the oneworld program for redemptions based on this thread.

Were the recent massive increase to fees for redemptions not enough to make you rethink?

Well I didn't like it but was willing to pay the price for locking in good Asia to Europe flights. But it now seems a 5 minute time change can potentially render the booking useless.

My understanding is that this is valid if your luggage is through ticketed. If it is not, then you will need a visa to be allowed to board your flight into India because you will have to land in India, pass through immigration and check luggage in for the next flight. Aidan is almost certainly not going to be through ticketed as he is switching from QF to LH.

Yep - looks like a transit visa is required considering I'll have to exit the international transit area. Have also just found out the partner lounge (Plaza Premium) Lufthansa uses in DEL is only available for 3 hour prior to departure which is less than desirable.

I think you are correct

My situation is QF connecting with EK on the same PRN with interlined baggage and boarding pass

Just a warning that the Qantas visa pages are not always accurate and source information is better. For several years they had incorrect information about TWOV for china, leading to unnecessary cost and stress for those given the wrong information.
