Hey Wozza
I found that small allocation on the Laithwaites website (www.laithwaites.co.uk) which they were selling for GBP 270.00 per 6-pack. I'd never heard of them before, just stumbled across it just trying to find somewhere that would deliver to my folks place ahead of our trip rather than stuffing the suitcase to take with us. At the time they had a promotion for new accounts where they offered free UK delivery and GBP 40.00 off first orders over GBP 100.00, so I jumped at it (made the total cost GBP 230.00 all up or 38.00/btl!)
Will be keeping an eye out for any other bargains before we head over in December. I do also have a couple of bottles of 2010 Mt Edelstone shiraz and a Penfolds Great Grandfather left at my parents from a previous visit, to supplement whatever French/Italian/Spanish stuff we pick while in the UK, so there should be plenty of festive cheer to go around!
Just a shame we are not back in Sydney until after the proposed AFF catch up in early Jan. I'll try and make the one after assuming the inaugural meet up is a success.
Cheers

Just back from the cellar door.

2015 disgorged Black Shiraz is for sale at $62.50. Initial impressions of it were very favourable, so purchased three bottles. Also new is the 2014 Frugal Farmer. This is by far the best vintage of this wine yet. Quite impressed by it actually.

I will be there on January 9 or 10 (to organise the next AFF tour) so look forward to tasting the entire range, especially the Sparkling and BP.

Question for you about the sparkling; we bought a bottle in January this year...whens the best time to drink (given we dont like our wines super-aged)?

I asked a similar question recently in the sparkling Shiraz thread - a week or two ago.

I love the fact there are so many knowledgable people on AFF who can answer :)

Enjoy! I really love the current release Rod and Spur as well as Rifle Range. The latter is so approachable for a young Cabernet, but will age for ages.

Now then. If you have more than a bottle have one now and another in a few years. My opinion is the Black Shiraz is ready to drink on release, but in general, will age for a long while too.

Only one unfortunately.

The 2014 disgorgement drank very well last Sunday.

If you have any 2015 I would probably wait a little while, but as with any Black Shiraz, the temptation to drink at this time of year is substantial.

I'm hanging on to mine for a while as the older ones I've had at the Rockford lunches really seem to have some extra depth and complexity - but they are still good young. Just about to start working through the mid-2000s and rotate from there. Haven't ordered the latest allocation yet so best get on the phone!

Purchased in January so I assume 2014...
