Rockfords discussion

Perhaps we need a date for a glass of wine in the back room before our departure for Europe?
But, with your travel schedule, that's not likely to work either.
So may have to wait until November. :)

Sounds like a plan.

I get back Thursday night, so there is hope :p

Damn! No. Have 10 days more here in Canada. I'll attend vicariously and have a decent Okanagan Valley wine that night (or day :) ).

Just noticed this thread. And, by chance, had received an email yesterday re a Rockford dinner in Melbourne, if anyone is interested.

It's at City Wine Store, Spring Street, on Monday 5 October, and includes the 2012 and 1998 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz.
Alas, I can't attend (will be in Europe) but I've been to many of the CWS events over many years and always enjoy them.

Wish I could be there or for one of the other October events. :)
Alas will be away in Fiji, otherwise I could have ben tempted to arrange a trip to MEL (to see clients, of course ;) ) in order to correspond with the event.

Why hello there. You look nice today.

These beauties will be catalogued and straight to the cellar for a few years.

oh nice. I guess us plebs have to wait a few months.

I only got 3 through CWS, but Buzz and I were talking about doing a cellar door visit around March / April.

I tasted it at the CWS dinner. It has the makings of an excellent wine from what was a great "gentleman's" vintage. It is very youthful now, so best to put away for a minimum of 5 years to develop further in the bottle.

We'd definitely be in. Thinking we should try a 2011 soon to see how its going...

I was already planning on teeing up a trip to Rockford on a visit home around then so I'd be quite keen if I can make it all work.

Was at Rockford the other day. They have 2009 Basket Press magnums available. Was either $180 or $185 per bottle.

For stonewallers only? Or everyone?

I stumbled across 6 bottles of the 2008 BP on a UK website last month which I've had delivered to my parents ready for our visit there this Christmas. Bargain at GBP 40.00 per bottle.

What! I am flying over next July, and might do the same. I think you can bring back 6 bottles through Sydney, can't you? Do you have a link, Stanely Lambchop? [I love typing out that name!]
