Rockfords discussion

Anybody had a chance to try the 2013 Rod & Spur yet? Saw it became available last week. Very interested in seeing how this one follows up on the 2012.

I didn't taste it when I was there last week as I was driving so just had some BP and SVS.
Ask again in April and there will be 25 replies :)

I just re-read this and some other things on the blog. Thanks for posting.

Nowadays Robert has very little to do with the business day to day, but he is still very much the "face" of Rockford.

I have met Ben a couple of times, and he is a lovely young chap, and clearly an excellent winemaker. He tells the story that he lives up in the Eden Valley and often takes a different route to and from work so he can pop by different growers, and taste the fruit daily or even twice daily around vintage.

The Radford family also produce a pretty good bushvine shiraz from Eden Valley under their own label - with Ben as winemaker of course. I came across some 2008 a couple of years ago and once it arrived I tasted and jumped straight on the phone "MORE, MORE" but alas it was not to be. All gone. That was low 20s. I haven't tried later vintages as they are now high 30s but worth a try if you see some to taste.

The March Cellar Door tasting list is up.

2012 Basket Press Shiraz and Sparking Black Shiraz (2015 Disg) are available (via CD only), limited to 3 bottles per customer.

Ste667 - There are two excellent wines available on CD currently which I would recommend:

2013 Rod and Spur Shiraz Cabernet
2013 Rifle Range Cabernet Sauvignon

If you are not a stone waller, the 2013 Basket Press is 12 months away.

Thanks Penegal.

The father-in-law (who got me into this whole wine business) is a Stonewaller so I'm sure he can be pressed into service for a Basket Press if required :)

If any AFFers are visiting the cellar door with their partners or friends etc and not buying their full allocation of BP please PM me.

Rockford will mail out orders taken at the Cellar door so it would not be very onerous for anyone able to assist ;) (thanks again to the AFFer that helped me last year)

Wine trip is a month away...

A little something has arrived at the chateau along with a "regular" case.

2010 BP Magnum

I have the 2009, and am kicking myself for not purchasing the 2008. I think RF may have purchased one?
