Don't need a vacuum. We got rid of all the carpet out of our house. We have tiles in the traffic areas and floating floors (bamboo) in all the rooms. Cleaning is a breeze. Just an occasional sweep, and a steam mop on the tiles and gentle wood floor polish with a mop from time to time. Vacuums suck!

Speaking of... I bought a HAAN just before Christmas. Love. It.

Ive had the Electrolux and pfft, too much of a hassle, bulky and too many attachments.

Otherwise, I love my Dyson, love my Kitchenaid.

I dont like seeing food wasted but on the other hand, why should I have to eat all of what someone else thinks is an appropriate sized meal for me?

Have had Hoover push-mes and ducted vacs, but I have to say Dyson is the best I've ever been (compelled!!) to use. Variety of attachments, gets the job done. I can see when it's full and needs emptying, over the bin and done. So yeah, in other news, bloke nominates his choice of vacuum cleaner!!

I have 2 dysons (stick and normal) a Samsung robot vacuum, a cleaner that comes fortnightly and a beagle cross (Morgan to your Monty Daver6). I bought the stick after I had persevered with the robot for about 18 months. It just didn't do a good enough job for my liking and it was fiddly to empty etc. The stick totally rocks and the full size vacuum only gets used by my cleaner now.

When I make the double batch, I've cut back to just one egg, but I add a splash of olive oil in the water mix. Seems to give it a better consistency.

We have had a Roomba for over 5 years. Robbie does at least one lap a day. Our floors are timber and we have dirt roads so the dust shows up. With that and three small people and one 'farm' cat who has discovered inside the house, it is worth its weight in gold. One day he got out and I could not find him on the verandah. I sat on the steps and cried, he later showed up. We use a dyson for the big jobs as well as a handheld (gives the kids an option to clean up their mess) but Roomba is the main one.

Any Dualit toaster owners ?
My toaster is on its last legs and I've always wanted one . Thinking about a 4 slice NewGen polished steel Dualit. Looking at whether it's worth purchasing in the UK or just stumping up the $ here.
Our toaster needs to be fairly heavy duty as its used daily by almost everyone bar me (I stick to the coffee maker).

UK was still quite expensive. Found Europe especially Germany January sales very reasonable. Except our dollar has now weakened. 62 euro cents

The U.K. plug is not compatible with Australian power plugs for the toaster and changing the plug is a headache for homeowners.
Just buy a compliant unit in Australia as they are tested for safety in Australian conditions.
No need to have a chance of a fire in a home is what I am thinking and just make sure any charcoaled toast gets put in the bin rather than eaten is what my scientist brother says.

We got our Dualit NewGen 4 slice polished a couple of years ago from Everten for $495 + postage...Peters of Kensington also carry them but seem to often be out of stock.

It replaced our Sunbeam 4 slice. The Dualit makes much better toast in shorter time than the Sunbeam ever did...but it isn't as 'automatic' as the Sunbeam as there's no sensor monitoring the toast, just a timer that you set.

So whilst very happy with the Dualit, I can understand others may not find it to their liking.

PS. If you get one, get some Silvo to polish off any spots/splatter on the aluminium that happen from cooking near the toaster.
