Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

I have a very good friend who was having a guest for the weekend. The guest asked if my friend had a hair dryer as, if so, she wouldn't bother bringing one. My friend answered in the affirmative but said she didn't use a dryer on her hair so hoped it would still work. House guest arrived and was astounded to find that the hair dryer was of this style and vintage:

Don't think my friend will be interested in the new Dyson one then.:)

I have just ordered a Philips air fryer thanks to the recommendations here. I am looking forward to trying it out. Any good recipes for French fries?

They come with instruction on how to cook chip/fries in several ways. It depends on the chips/fries - if frozen/pre-cut, thick/thin or you are slicing the spuds yourself.

CHOICE has reported 87 Thermomix faults to ACCC. In a number of cases the device has exploded spraying hot liquid over the person operating the unit with some cases of burns treatments lasting up to 3 weeks.

Air fryer? Must look into that. I usually fry potatoes in frying pan initially with a little Canola oil then just let them fry in the heat. Not soggy. A little crisp but that's how I like them.

Can a convection oven do the same ? its essentailly a big air fryer is it not?

The airfryer is 'high speed' when compared to normal fan forced ovens. It also has a grill aspect in its function.

Not defending the Thermomix or playing down the issues but reminding people that the Choice report does not refer to the current model. There are no (that I'm aware of) reported problems with the current model.
