The only time I've used similar was when I washed a down jacket in the washing machine and it came out flat but with lumps of wet down in the pocket area. Oops. Did some googling and the solution was to put a tennis ball in the dryer. It worked. Good as new again. And no need to confess to the owner.
I have a Breville The Custom Loaf and it does a reasonably good job of having the paddle lay flat prior to baking. You still get a bit of a hole in the loaf, but it's way less noticeable than older bread machines I've used.I guess so, but usually its quite hot so I'm not sure Id want to remove the dough to remove the hook. Plus mine seems to be jammed on anyway

Good luck with getting an old Kenwood serviced. Mine broke and Kenwood wouldn't even look at it because it was too old. It was in the middle of Covid and I was heavily into making sourdough so went and purchased a new one. A handyman friend who was doing some work for me asked if he could take it and have a play. An hour after he got home I got a photo of my newly repaired and serviced Kenwood with a bow on it ready for his partner when she got home. Not happy Jan
He's a great friend and he did so much work for me when I moved into my apartment I was happy for him to have it. I paid him an hourly rate which he was happy with but I'd have to pay someone else probably at least twice as much and because he's thrifty he would often repurpose things to save me money. I'd already purchased a new one anyway.
