Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Has anyone tried those woolen dryer balls, and do they really shorten the drying time of clothes/sheets/towels int he dryer and reduce wrinkles or is it a gimmick?

ETA: nevermind CHOICE says no Do dryer balls actually work? | CHOICE
The only time I've used similar was when I washed a down jacket in the washing machine and it came out flat but with lumps of wet down in the pocket area. Oops. Did some googling and the solution was to put a tennis ball in the dryer. It worked. Good as new again. And no need to confess to the owner.

I guess so, but usually its quite hot so I'm not sure Id want to remove the dough to remove the hook. Plus mine seems to be jammed on anyway 😂
I have a Breville The Custom Loaf and it does a reasonably good job of having the paddle lay flat prior to baking. You still get a bit of a hole in the loaf, but it's way less noticeable than older bread machines I've used.

A friend getting excited about this

In 2006 I really wanted a KitchenAid but couldn't justify the price tag. Aldi had a different stand mixer it had 2 glass bowls (one small and one huge), a dough hook, beaters and whisk attachements for $25. I bought it intending it to be an interim appliance until I had more cash to burn.

Well some 18 years later it is still go strong. So if this latest one is in anyway similar it will be a steal.

This thread should be retitled 'the enablers thread'. And now my feed is being populated with bread makers. 😂

Good luck with getting an old Kenwood serviced. Mine broke and Kenwood wouldn't even look at it because it was too old. It was in the middle of Covid and I was heavily into making sourdough so went and purchased a new one. A handyman friend who was doing some work for me asked if he could take it and have a play. An hour after he got home I got a photo of my newly repaired and serviced Kenwood with a bow on it ready for his partner when she got home. Not happy Jan

If they won't service it try your local repair cafe. Some of those guys are amazing and they love large donations which I'm sure you'd give

I would have presumed to have received it back once he'd "had a play" and got it working....

He's a great friend and he did so much work for me when I moved into my apartment I was happy for him to have it. I paid him an hourly rate which he was happy with but I'd have to pay someone else probably at least twice as much and because he's thrifty he would often repurpose things to save me money. I'd already purchased a new one anyway.

The Not happy Jan was directed at Kenwood not him

I cannot fault Appliances online. Ordered a new fridge late Wednesday arvo, could have had it delivered yesterday but i needed to borrow an esky and get some ice for the fridge contents so scheduled it for today.

In addition to being the least expensive (by $300 due to their birthday sale) they actually had it in stock (albeit in white rather than the metal finish I would have preferred). I was somewhat limited in choice due to the height of the cavity in my kitchen cabinetry (plenty of width & depth available)

Then about 3pm yesterday I decided to add on an air fryer because they price matched Betta electrical who were selling the one I wanted for $50 cheaper. Saved me a trip to an appliance store or waiting at home another day for delivery.

At 7am today I received a SMS & Email to say my free delivery time would be between 10:40am and 12:40pm; then call at 10:50am to say they were about 20 mins away, another call when 5 mins out.

The two guys carefully unboxed the fridge, maneuvered it up the 2 flights of stairs and into position. Took away all the rubbish and the old fridge. Excellent.

This is what I bought: 470L Multi Drawer Fridge - White | Mitsubishi Electric

My 23 year old Fisher & Paykel had been making loud death noises for approx. 6 months, the new one so far doesn't make any noise at all. Bonus this fridge was actually made in Japan.

The front doors are covered in glass which helps with finger prints but means you can only stick magnets on the side, just as well i don't collect magnets or tend to stick things to the fridge, although I guess blue tac of tape would work.

As a single person household I don't need anything larger, but the French doors mean at xmas where i have large roasts and/or platters it can easily accommodate those. I also like the way you can access the vegetable drawers without opening the main fridge.

Because the fridge is programable I'm actually going to have to read the manual, something I've never done for a fridge before.

After much over thinking I went with Sunbeam Multizone Air Fryer Oven because you can use the two different halves at the same time on different programs and coordinate them to finish at the same time; or just use 1 half or remove the divider and have a larger over. Plus liked that all the different trays and baskets store within the unit itself and that you can see what is cooking without opening to check.

I was tempted to get the PowerXL (seen the late night advert too many times) but I never cook that much food at once.

Will provide more feedback once both have had some use.

Might have to look at a new fridge! :)

Our experience with Appliances Online have been good too. The delivery guys super helpful. On delivery day, because it was crazy handover day, they put the stuff in the garage and I arranged for them to come back Monday to complete install with no issues. I ended up cancelling because my builder moved the stuff and even cancelling the booking, they were kind enough to say they can come and check if we wanted them to
